Dell acting very weird - very slow, can't shutdown, Chrome not working properly

Deleted! If you were referring to the Office 2010 file... it was pre-cracked, and I made sure to get it from a trusted downloader. What does Rut Ro mean....? And apart from that, I haven't experienced any more problems so far!

Dell acting very weird - very slow, can't shutdown, Chrome not working properly

Well... I just saw that Bazooka is not compatible with Win7. So I guess it is false alarm. ESET found this here - but I think they too are false positivies: C:\Users\Janine\Downloads\cnet2_bazookasetup_exe.exe a variant of Win32/InstallCore.D application C:\Users\Janine\Downloads\Office 2010...

Dell acting very weird - very slow, can't shutdown, Chrome not working properly

Aha ok, I thought it was just for networking with other computers (e.g. in a local network). Anyway, I am running malwarebytes right now and it's already found 10 threats... I am quite surprised. The scan is not done yet though. Bazooka reported systemdir.explorer and systemdir.regedit... let's...

Dell acting very weird - very slow, can't shutdown, Chrome not working properly

No - I will try cutting the power and rebooting that way to get into safe mode. Not sure why that idea only just crossed my mind... What is the advantage of booting into the networking mode, as opposed to the normal safe mode? Just curious, since I know nothing about it. I will try it right now.

Dell acting very weird - very slow, can't shutdown, Chrome not working properly

Hello, for a couple of days my laptop (running Windows 7) has been acting up, and it's getting stranger and stranger. I would normally attempt to help myself first, but it's very hard to work with the laptop right now, so I'm hoping someone will be able to help me, and enable me to skip doing...

    Detecting keyloggers etc

I've decided it's high time for an external HD to store all my stuff/do backups on, so I'll buy that this week and re-set up the whole laptop... I'll go back to the dual boot also, but this way I can be sure both OS are clean and it will be way easier. And I will definitely make sure I follow...

    Detecting keyloggers etc

claptonman: great, thanks for the link. Now I have the new problem of keeping the dual boot despite a W7 reinstall though... I'd like to only reinstall it in its own partition and leave Linux (and my files that I'll pull over here from the Windows part so they don't get lost) untouched, but that...

    Detecting keyloggers etc

Stars: That's... um... good for you? :p Let's hope word of your super keylogger never reaches my father. claptonman, thank you! Good to hear... although now my Windows went and died on me (on Linux now... wondering if I might have a keylogger on this OS...), so I might have to reinstall Windows...

Blue screen when booting up - partition issue?

Thanks, I'll take a look! Until then - I couldn't turn off the automatic reboot, but I did manage to take a picture of it (why make it easy if you can have it the really hard way), and it looks like the error codes are 0x0000007B, 0xFFFFF880009A98E8, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034. It is possible i mistook...

Blue screen when booting up - partition issue?

If possible, I'd like to avoid reinstalling Windows for now... I don't have the discs for that or any of my programmes (Office) with me right now. Obviously if all else fails I'll have to do it though, of course. I'll let you know if I figure out what the blue screen says. How would I go...

Blue screen when booting up - partition issue?

Hello, I am running a Linux/Windows 7 dual boot that I wanted to get rid of by removing the Linux bit. Somebody recommended I use Partition Magic, and I installed it before I read about its compatibility issues... but by then I had already started it up, and it offered to fix some small...

    Detecting keyloggers etc

Ok, I checked, and I don't think there is anything weird there... I googled a couple of folder names that I didn't recognise to be sure. I'm not a computer buff though.

    Detecting keyloggers etc

Really? Hmm, ok. That's good news then. But I always thought they would be a bit harder to track down than with a simple antivirus programme.

Office 2007 updates failing for months

Uff I'm sorry, I completely forgot about this thread... no, I haven't tried to reinstall Office yet, I don't have the disc with me right now... would be nice if there were some other options to try, but if not, I will definitely try a reinstall next month. When I click on the failed updates, it...

    Detecting keyloggers etc

Hello, so my father installed eblaster on my laptop a few years ago and used it until two years ago, unbeknowst to me of course (as a side note, I am definitely not a kid anymore, so as you can imagine I am not too thrilled). I just found out about it and obviously I am now quite worried...

Office 2007 updates failing for months

Hello, my Office 2007 updates have all been failing since April; every single one of them. It attempts to download every day and fails every time. I know, I know, I should have looked into this at least half a year sooner... I've now tried to manually install the SP 3 by downloading it from...
