    Opinions on this laptop

Hello, For office, browsing, watching movies this laptop is great. Does Toshiba still offers the longest warranty period? I remember a few years ago they were offering lifetime warranty to make you forget about that bad lot of exploding batteries.

Google thinks IE10 is an old obsolete browser?!

For some applications, iexplore is the only usable browser, eg. old apps developed using Oracle forms and jInit - of course, jInit having a few compatibility problems with iexplore's add-ons, but that's life....

    external harddisk problem

Yes. You could use SMART monitoring, even though it is an external HDD. There are a few utils out there that can test/ monitor external HDDs. Depending of the importance of the stored data, u might consider a paid app - one that gives you a nicely formated report...

    Keyboard & Mouse for ~$100

Hello, The Logitech G400 is a good mouse. But... Logitech G500 is bliss :D And only 6 US$ more expensive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104318 Still, for the KB i would have chosen Microsoft.

    Troubleshooting

Hello, No BSOD means that the OS doesn't have time to do a core dump when a stop error occurs. The kernel just freezes. What is the CPU temperature after a freeze? Is the cooler installed right? Swap the PSU - regardless of the brand, it might have a hidden flaw, might not put out right amount...

    Need a good USB stick.

Hello and Merry Christmas, Either one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233158 or the GT version http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233324 Regular version is pretty fast, however. If you use it to carry lots of small files around, it won't...

    Huawei or LG?

Hello, Go with LG. I had the Huawey G300. Worst smartphone ever. From poor quality materials to a let's call it ..bad mojo when using it. Reverted to my old HTC. Huawey might fight Cisco on some markets, that doesn't mean they are the new Samsung.

Not trying to make fun or anything...but did i just read "56k dialup" ?! On an actual landline?! Through a modem?! WOW :( Come on, you are the US! I thought you had fiber at every street corner in the most remote town in the desert. Or at least a satellite link or something else.

250M service?! What planet are you from?!?!?! Are your from the future? Can i come too? Jokes aside...we just switched to 120MB FTTH in some major areas. What type of infrastructure? Fiber to the desk? Does the ISP offers a minimum speed? Also, what would be the cost for a 1 year contract?

    Is this a good build?

Hello, Never go with ASrock motherbords. I've seen a lot of computers with ASrock mobos that performed like crap. Also, (very) personal experience: i've seen someone recomending Gigabyte and Asus. Lose the Gigabyte (bad bad bad memories), keep the Asus...rock solid :P Or go for a MSI mobo. The...

Windows XP with High Definition Monitor

Hello, An old Windows XP box might have only 256 - 512 MB VRAM on a deprecated GPU that might not be THAT capable. A brand new Dell with an Intel I3, and maybe 4GB RAM, even with an integrated GPU, running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium, would be way better. Of course, if you get an Dell 755...

RAM and Power Supply? please help

Hello, For the RAM go w/ Kingston. It might be Value RAM, but it's still Kingston, so it does offer a few guarantees. http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-ValueRAM-Desktop-KVR333-1GR/dp/B0009XD672 As for the PSU I would go with the CoolerMaster...

    Router/Modem problems

Hello, 6 years old D-Link still functional? WOW!!! Really, that is a record! Jokes aside, have you tried using a different router? Just to test your connection, that's all. It can be that lately your ISP installed more clients in your area, and they forgot to upgrade the alloted bandwidth. Is...
