Hate the TOSHIBA Satellite C50D-A-133 15.6” Laptop, what to buy next?

The laptop I have was around $450, It's an Acer, and I've not had any issues playing low settings games on it. I loaned it to my girlfriends son around a year ago, its about two years old now. I've tried getting it back, but you know 21 year olds who step on their laptop screens, not sure why I...

Setup and manage SSD discussion thread

That's odd, mine told me I could only add empty folder's. Would try it again, but I already deleted 54 GB's of games. :(

Setup and manage SSD discussion thread

I do the same thing with my steam folders, but sadly when adding a folder to your steam library you cannot add folders that contain games :( I only have 27 steam games with friends who have hundreds, so re-downloading them every time you reinstall windows or switch to a newer SSD is a pain...

    HDD/SSD Drive Speed Thread

Tested everything I have in this system. Sadly one 2TB WD drive's broken so I only tested one of them, not much of a score for the green, but the 840 EVO done well. Same as Shane's without RAPID but a hair faster with it ;) Top two are the Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD with and without RAPID 840...

    SSD to external hard drive

That look's really slick, may have to stick my 120GB OCZ SSD into one of them. :)

SSD upgrade and other HDD problems :(

Yeah I've noticed that about SSD's, showing up un-formatted and un-partitioned. I normally setup new drives one at a time, by connecting all drives, then disabling the ones I don't want in the Bio's. It's a little trick I've picked up from an IT mate of mine, and I've never had any issues with...

SSD upgrade and other HDD problems :(

Hey guys, Currency again. Today I have questions, and would also like to get opinions on my newest upgrade. When I built my current system in 04-05/2013 I purchased a refurbished 120GB OCZ Vertex Plus from TigerDirect, I got it for a better price than I could find ten minutes ago online. I...

    Steam on SSD

Can agree with the others. I have steam on my SSD with games split between two, 2TB WD greens (5,400 RPM) and everything seems to load more quickly as they done on my older Seagate 7,200RPM 750GB HDD.

What should i upgrade to run Battlefield 4 at Reccomended?

Have to agree, your system should meet the requirements if you upgrade your video card. You already said you wanted too. The BF4 spec's should be nearly the same as BF3 from what I've read. So a video card upgrade would be the most effective upgrade path.

Most Effective Spot for a Case Fan

Running my system with positive pressure, I along with many others have seen 2 degree drops, or more. So I have to disagree that negative is the most effective. Early this year I took around 40 hours of testing and research to reach this conclusion. But just like applying TIM, it's a matter...

Most Effective Spot for a Case Fan

Then you'll get a bunch of dust bunnies in the case, more often than not since my case only has two dust filters. Front and bottom. I switch the direction all the time on my top fans, but plan on adding another 140MM intake to the front and cleaning the case up a little soon. My home was...

Most Effective Spot for a Case Fan

I have three 140MM Coolermaster R4-L4S-10AB-GP blue LED and they light up rather nice. I thought about adding a forth, two for the front, but I still have the three old 140MM blue LED fans that came with my case. I've not seen much of a decrease in temps either, other than the push/pull on my...

any tips on choosing computer case

My advice when purchasing anything, as Kevin Rutherford would say. "Look for a reason not to buy it!" Make sure it has exactly what you want, if you want ten HDD mounts, you'll narrow your results down in a search queue rather quickly. Make a list of what you want out of your case, and...

    Crossfire/SLI options

I've reformatted, reinstalled windows, drivers, and so forth three times and the issues still there. I haven't known the memory is a possible issue for about a month now, that's why I didn't RMA it. I ordered the CPU, memory, motherboard, and one of the two 2TB HDD's on 4/29/2013. So I got those...

    Crossfire/SLI options

@ 4Ghz I seemed to have the same problem, also had it @ 1,024 x 768. Still on Ultimate settings, frame rates were really similar. I did have a new blue screen, first in a week or so, relating to DirectX, the Windows Debug tools stated similar "Memory Corruption" as a cause for the crash. @...

    Crossfire/SLI options

Always running the latest GPU drivers, unless I move into beta drivers, I normally check for new video drivers every couple of weeks unless Windows Update finds them before I do which is not likely. I can push the CPU to 4Ghz on air with the Hyper 212 EVO and have manageable temps, generally...

    Crossfire/SLI options

I know what Vsync does. With Vsync off my frames are 78-115 and amazing drop to 33-45 every couple of minutes. That's running Euro Truck Sim on Ultra @ 1,680x1,050. The frame rate with the same resolution on med or high settings, sit between 140-160 and drop all the way down to 80 FPS, very...

    Crossfire/SLI options

It doesn't get much easier as you get older. I work over 355 days a year, because my job requires me too and I always need more money. The more you make the more you spend. I spend $300 a month for gas because I drive an hour, 50 miles, to work every single day since my house is paid off and if...

    Crossfire/SLI options

Other upgrade options I will crossfire at some point in the coming six months, at that point I'll spend some time to research the top price/performance GPU and get two, then sell the 7870 XT GPU I have now. The system I have now is around six months old, still new in my eyes as many others...

    Crossfire/SLI options

So 7970 it is. Was looking at the sapphire 7970 which is designed in a similar fashion as my sapphire 7870 XT. sadly there seems to be to many bad reviews for me to even dare. But newegg shows it as the best rated 7970 too. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008...
