Driver for Epson 1240u Scanner in Windows 10

Hi John - looked in my programmes and found an Epson Twain V.5 driver, which I uninstalled as you suggested. It then accepted a fresh download from the Epson site (the latest being the Windows 7 version). I then clicked on the scanner in Control Panel - Devices, only to get the same message as...

Driver for Epson 1240u Scanner in Windows 10

I tried to download the Windows 7 driver from the Epson site, but it only gives me the following 3 options: a - to repair; b - to modify or c - to uninstall. The same happened when I selected one of the later Perfection scanner models just to try. I assume it simply recognises my Windows 10...

Unfortunately, Epson no longer offers anything for the 1240 - except point you in the direction of VueScan!

Driver for Epson 1240u Scanner in Windows 10

Is there a free (or cheap!) driver available for the Epson Perfection 1240u scanner in Windows 10? Its a great scanner, but the only driver I can find for it is VueScan which costs £31. Have I any other options if I want to continue using this scanner? Thanks.

My D-drive will not recognise a blank CD!

I recently purchased a reconditioned Dell Optiplex 3010 PC tower running the latest version of Windows 10. All has been well until I attempted to burn a data CD (I have downloaded the free NCH Express Burn software). Whilst there is no problem recognising and playing both data and audio CD's...

5 speaker system, but only one jack socket on the PC!

Thank you Pete for your valued input. As my first post was lacking some detail, below is a fuller description the "before and after" set-ups in question: The speaker system has 2 jacks - green and black - to plug into the PC and my old HP tower had 6 coloured audio sockets thus: Blue = in /...

5 speaker system, but only one jack socket on the PC!

I have just replaced my old HP Pavilion tower with a Dell Optiplex 3010. I want to use my old 5-speaker system as before, which has 2 small jack plugs (a green and a black), but there is only one speaker port at the back of this PC (green), which only powers two of the speakers, plus the woofer...

No more support for Vista - advice please?

Thanks for all the replies. I was rather hoping that my McAfee security package (with regular updates) would have been sufficient to keep out most invaders. Also, that the encryption of my card details (by Paypal and mainstream shopping sites) would offer adequate protection to them. So is that...

No more support for Vista - advice please?

I must confess to being a bit of a Luddite, having stuck with my Windows Vista operating system to this day (HP Pavilion PC) simply because it fulfils all my requirements and I am comfortable with it. However, Firefox - the last browser to support Vista – are finally going cease supporting Vista...

Noisy Graphics Card Fan - best solutions?

Hi, I have opened my PC case (HP Pavilion) to see which of the fans is making a dreadful noise and I have identified it (I think!) as being the graphics card fan. It sounds really rough! I would appreciate advice on how to best cure it. It is the one in the centre of the picture. Thanks!

Security updates for Microsoft.NET Framework - repeated failures to install.

Whenever I try to install security updates for Microsoft.NET Framework (on Vista) I usually get a repeated failure to install on one of them, accompanied by failure code 643. These updates arrive in batches of three or four at a time and there always seems to be one that refuses to update...
