    Win Xp Launch Failing

The PC was a 'custom' build made by our PC tech, its a little old (like I said, Q8200 CPU). The fan and heatsink are both out of the box/came with CPU stock Intel. The GPU was salvaged from my old PC, that's why the power supply is under powered (did not know this...)

    Win Xp Launch Failing

Ah yes, please do sleep! It's only 9pm here in Australia. I will address what you mentioned though. 1) I bought Deep Cool Z3 as thermal paste (It's the only thing my computer store sold... And was a total ripoff for price.. I don't want to say 2) My bad about the fan. The fan is fine. It...

    Win Xp Launch Failing

Ok, so I will take of the heat sink (stock Intel for a Q8200), clean of the paste and re-apply like you stated. He is using a surge protector, but it is always plugged into wall (and yes, I did check ;p) Everything is tight in the box, PSU to Mobo, RAM, GPU. I am a little worried about the...

    Win Xp Launch Failing

Ok! So I did the RAM and even launched off of one stick etc etc. I managed to get into BIOS and into system temp. Here's the crazy thing, Mobo temp was steady at 23 C. The CPU went from 24 C to 56 C before shutting off. This must be a heat issue. The CPU fan was running (varying its speed) as...

    Win Xp Launch Failing

Ok I will give this a try. I honestly did not even think that the RAM might be an issue as the system was working fine just before we did the heatsink. Also, with the thermal paste, I applied only a very small amount (I could still see the processors GHz rating through the paste)

    Win Xp Launch Failing

Hi all, My dad's computer is having a bit of an issue at the moment. Here's the details. When he boots the pc, all the fans spool up to normal levels, the bios launch opens and then the Win XP loading screen opens and suddenly, the entire system shuts off. We recently took the heat sink off the...

    Time for a new monitor

I've got an old ASUS LCD monitor that's getting fairly old and I'm looking to move into the HD/LED world of current gen monitors. I have been browsing around places like JB HiFi and mwave.com and most of their monitors are widescreen (which I am not a fan of personally). I was looking for the...

    Fan connector

Hi again. I've successfully installed my new CoolerMaster 120mm fan in the front of the tower, but i was hoping to use the side vent as well (I have one 4pin slot open on the Mobo). Here's my problem, it's fairly obvious when a space is 120mm wide, but I honestly can't tell what size my side...

    Which system suits?

Wolfeking, I've added a second 120mm fan to the front of my case pulling air in, across my CPU/GPU and pretty much everything in there. So, I guess now I will see what I can do with this thing (within reason). I was surprised my computer guy put this other stuff in there... Thanks much

    Which system suits?

Just an update guys, I quoted my motherboard model from the quote my computer technician gave me. After reviewing all my manuals and what not, it appears he has actually installed an i5-2500k processor and a P8Z77-M Pro (ASUS) motherboard. Does that change anything? Sorry to keep posting on...

    Fan connector

Ok thanks very much. I noticed on my Mothoerboard user guide the spare 4pin down the bottom, but I didn't think they were compatible with the 3pins. Thanks again, TViking

    Fan connector

I recently got a new computer and I have it stored in a less that air-friendly environment. I have the ASUS P8H77-M PRO motherboard and I can't find any 3 pin connections on it to connect another fan to (ignoring CPU and exhaust fan). Is there a connector on the board I can't see or does it...

    Which system suits?

So the problem is in the Motherboard choice. This isn't really an issue for me and I guess this way it saves money! :) Thanks for fixing me up here, very helpful and much appreciated

    Which system suits?

Well, I was under the impression that they could be perhaps boosted? I'm not 100% with these things. The MOBO page mentions it has a GPU 'booster' in it http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8H77M_PRO/#overview And the GPU reckons it has over clock software (ASUS Gamer OSD)...

    Which system suits?

Machin3, Thanks for the speedy reply and welcome. Honestly, I'm not sure how much I want to over clock it. I just plan on using the software that comes with the GPU/MOBO/CPU (They all have some sort of overclock feature listed on their sites for each piece! :s) Anyway, this link is to my case...

    Which system suits?

Hi guys, I'm getting my new PC soon and I want to overclock my CPU for the extra performance and I understand that this causes a serious amount of heat to build up = bad for processor. Anyway, I'm getting an Intel i5-2500 processor and an ASUS P8H77-M-Pro Motherboard. My question is, will...
