    Malware or mother board failure?

Got one of those... the connectors did not fit my power supply. Found a Utube video that demonstrated how to use it... the connections the guy had on his power supply did not match mine.

    Malware or mother board failure?

You have me wrong... I am not hell bent on anything. I am just asking questions, looking for answers. I admit that after the first clone was destroyed I should have stopped, but made a huge mistake by installing another. At the time, I could not come up with a way to test/verify and look at...

    Malware or mother board failure?

Even considering that it wrecked three different drives (original drive, plus two clones)? The drives were wrecked to the point that not only would they not boot, but were not able to be recognized to be re-formatted or used to be written to as new clones. How does a fan do that?

    Malware or mother board failure?

The hard drive in the unit when it first acted-up was a Western Digital Model WD2003FYYS, 2.0 TB (but remember I did swap it out when it started acting up... twice). As for the power supply, I don't know just off hand, but I still have it so I could look if you think it would help.

    Malware or mother board failure?

I am sure it was the hard drive revving up... although I have never heard of it before either. Addendum: further reading has revealed that malware can "hide" in the video memory. So, that is a possibility. I do keep Windows Security enabled at all times.

    Malware or mother board failure?

A question I would like answered. Several months ago, my HP Compaq desktop computer failed. The hard drive seemed to run-away (RPMs ever increasing with no output to the monitor), to the point where I thought it was going to blow-up. When I could not stop it, I shut the power off and pulled...

Shift + Down Arrow not selecting all

I don't expect anyone to change my computer's shortcut behavior. I am just following directions I found on the internet on how to do it. I could alternately choose another approach if someone would tell me how to do so. Knowing that you think another approach is "simple", helps me how?

Shift + Down Arrow not selecting all

Shift + Down Arrow not selecting all

Once again, how can I get Shift + Down Arrow to select all the running processes while in Task Manager? Let us not lose the tree in the forest.

Shift + Down Arrow not selecting all

"You can also just right click on the usb device down by the clock and click on eject" Nope... when I click on that, a message comes up on the screen and says that there is a program still running that I must close before I can safely remove the device.

Shift + Down Arrow not selecting all

Windows 10 operating system I am trying to close all programs when trying to safely eject my USB device (HDD dock), after making a clone. The instructions via search says to go to Task Manager (which I do), hit the Down Arrow (which I do... it takes me to the first app in the running list)...

    What the Hell happened?

Power spikes have been know to happen when the power goes off. Agree the printer had nothing to do with the computer failing... that was just the first symptom. Two USB ports failed a short time later, leading me to believe that the mother board was failing. As a side note, I saw a montor...

Good cheap TV for computer monitor.

I am going to set up another computer on my network. I have used SANYO 32 LED on another node and found it to be a good monito. However, they seem to be relatively scarce for some reason and the prices have gone up. What cheap 32" HD LED TV have you found to make a good computer monitor for...

    What the Hell happened?

I cannot download anything... the computer is not booting. The screen is dead. The hard drive runs away (goes faster and faster). Nothing loads. I don't need to fix it, I assume it is trashed. Addendum: I put an old hard drive (Windows 7) in the computer yesterday and the screen lit up...

    What the Hell happened?

My computer crashed in an unexplained manner. (I am using my wife's). It started with the apparent malfunction of a wired printer. They I began to get Blue Screens of Death. Then my wireless printer stopped working. More BSOD. At that point I swapped out the hard drive for a backup clone...

    Blue Screen of Death

My computer crashed yesterday (BSD), I could not get it to recover. However, I had a hard drive dock and make a clone every once in awhile. I swapped out the drive for the clone and I am back in business. Here is my question: Is there any problem using the Blue Screen of Death hard drive...

    CPU too hot?

My wife and I have identical computers. When I run the Speccy utility on my computer, it shows that my CPU is running at between 47 and 60 degrees centigrade. When I run the program on my wife's comptuer, it indicates that her CPU's average temperature is only 17 degrees centigrade. Is mine...

Screwed up my hard drive. Is it recoverable?

Whoops! Using Disk Management, I formatted each partition, one at a time and then the clone took. All partitions on the destination match the source, so it seems to have taken this time. Sorry.
