Decided to build instead of buying

That looks like a very good system or the price. It makes me realise the difference in prices here in the UK. When i was planning my computer build i had a very similar system in mind, only i had an XFX 8800GTS 640MB graphics card, and a 22" samsung monitor. Other than that the rest was...

    computers for handling crysis?

I would get a E6750 as opposed to the quad core option, then get a 8800GTS graphics card with the money saved. Better still, get the 640MB version if you can really push your budget. Then 2GB of Ram @ 800Mhz should be fine

Thoughts on the spec for my new computer I am buliding

I personally think that the quad cores are a waste of money at the moment as their use is limited. This means that in 99% of programs a E6750 will actually run them better, and its cheaper. So personally i would go for a E6750 and a 8800GTS graphics card.

    Building my PC

I believe there is a very good guide on here somewhere that goes into depth about selecting parts, building the computer, testing it etc

help make a PC is better than 360/PS3 thread here

I think a massive amount of it is down to money too. For example, a PS3 costs like £450, that wont buy you a very interesting PC at all. Also, does anyone notice an image thing with it too? For example, if you’re kicking back in a big chair, playing your PS3 on a big tele with a beer, then...

First attempt at a build, please check it

I’ll be going with the XFX 8800GTS 640MB card, which will run circles around the 8600GT 512MB

First attempt at a build, please check it

I've just realised i've put 36750 as opposed to E6750, my bad! lol Im hoping this computer will last me for around 3years. I understand that it might struggle towards the end of this period, but as long as it will run DX10 games for the next 2 years without complaining then i'll be happy...

    Computerspecs for windows Vienna?

I recently installed a computer system (v small one) at my mum's company, and i was impressed with Vista. Im not sure why, but there is just something about it. Im still not sure whether to go with Vista or XP for my comp. Although i will say one thing, it does seem fair slow. My mum's...

First attempt at a build, please check it

Well i think i've finally decided upon the components, briefly its this: Intel Core 2 Duo 36750 CPU The gigabyte motherboard linked above OCZ 2GB PC2-8500 Reaper memory 500GB Samsung hard drive 20x Samsung dvd/rw XFX GeForce 8800GTS 640MB graphics card Creative Xtreme gamer soundcard...

    Computerspecs for windows Vienna?

Despite Vista'a flaws hasn't it been the best selling edition of windows? Also, in most industries an item is only replaced when it is no longer of use. So if they still have issues with Vista, and DX10 gaming is yet to take hold, and Vista does everything that a modern day computer needs it...

A Build I Have In Mind...

For me that system is too heavily focused around the processor. The intel chip you've stated costs around £120 i believe, which means that nearly 30% of the build cost is going to that alone. I would look at a cheaper AMD chip, something like the 4800+, and get faster ram and possibly a...

First attempt at a build, please check it

Doh, just when i thought i'd sorted my system out too! So the general concensus is that i should run an Intel system as opposed to an AMD one? If this is the case, then can someone suggest a motherboard for around £65 that is on par with the AMD one, and that is obviously compatible with the...

First attempt at a build, please check it

Ok guys, after taking various recommendations i have shuffled things around and i now have the following: CPU - AMD Athlon X2 64 6000+ £115 Motherboard - ASUS M2N NF570 £64 Memory - 2GB Corsair PC2-6400 £95 Hard drive - 500GB Samsung Spinpoint £61 Graphics card - XFX Geforce...

First attempt at a build, please check it

An Intel system will cost me more as the processor is £50 more ($100) and a comparative motherboard is also more, so i think i'll be sticking with the AMD. The last AMD machine i had was spot on, and all the computers at my mums place are running the AMD 4000+ chip. I am however going to...

First attempt at a build, please check it

I have found a small problem though. That system somes to £700, WITHOUT a case, operating system, or a monitor. Ive just visted www.pcspecialist.co.uk, and made the exact same system, with a case, and Vista home Premium, and a 22" widescreen monitor, for just £1013 delivered, hmmm. The system...

First attempt at a build, please check it

Would i really need to overclock a 2.66-3.0Ghz dual core processor though? To be honest i dont plan on overclocking anything, unless it will be necessary in the future. It seems that the only variance would be with the processor and motherboard, although for my use i dont think i'll be...

First attempt at a build, please check it

First attempt at a build, please check it (now revised) Ok. I have £1000 with which to build a computer system. The system will be used for office applications, internet, and gaming. The majority of games that i play are strategy, such as Civilisations, C&C, Total war etc. I want the...

    AMD or Intel

That E6750 processor works out at £110, you can get it in the UK for just £123, so not exactly mega bucks cheaper. Oh, and don't come to the UK, we're slowly turning into a prison state. Everyone is getting ID cards with all of their personal information embedded on them, and within the next...

Is it ever a good time to build/purchase?

I will hopefully be getting a budget of around £1000 ($2000) within the next few weeks in order to build myself a gaming system, not including the monitor, so it should be pretty good with my budget. But my question is, when is a good time to start a build? I mean, the computer world is...

I'll give the defrager a go this evening, i think this will help alot as i am forever downloading things to the laptop, then putting them on my external drive, alot of stuff is backwards and forwards alot. I get it through work for £30 a month, but someone has offered to take it off my hands...
