Hey guys. I recently pulled out my computer tower from the desk and when I put it back in, it now only is able to access bios and get to a point that says it's loading files for windows. It stays there until I reboot. Any ideas? I made sure all connections are good. Thanks.

I know eh? We're thinking power surges and a bad surge protector or SOMETHING. Could a bad power supply be the culprit? Not sure, but I've posted in a different thread addressing the issue.

The surge protector is only a few months old. We just replaced that one. Hopefully we can find the solution with frying the least amount of stuff, lol.

I know eh? So do you think we should try the computer in question on a different outlet with different surge protector and a working monitor?

We've been having power blips with I think 3 computers. We do have battery backups/surge protectors though. I wonder if it's the power surges or the power supply is bad? I mean I've never heard of monitors blowing like this. We're not exactly willing to try another monitor with the outlet or...

Believe me, if you knew what we went through today, lol. Fried 2 monitors for some ghostly reason and tried all day to get a computer working.

Update: now when i power it on, i see text for 3 seconds and then the back light of the monitor turns off. Tried 2 different vga cables and 2 different monitors. Same results. Update again: It officially killed the 2 monitors. They don't work on other computers now either. On for 3 seconds...

The hdd is from 2015 July. It's Western Digital 500gb blue drive. I'll look for diagnostics utility. Thanks.

He did wipe the drivers and reinstall the latest. Computers are frustrating >:( Oh geforce experience to update eh? i should tell him that.

We're running chkdsk c: /f /r /x (or similar) right now and its' stuck at 11% for 30 minutes at least already. UPDATE: It crapped out during the chkdsk. Now it's back to square one. I guess we'll get that program and try that.

I can't tell because I can't access the update center. So this program will capture the error even though the error itself happens before booting to windows?

No hardware changes, but the computer automatically did an upgrade for windows 10 recently. I wish we could revert back, but in safe mode it just minimizes the window when we try to go into the update section of the settings. The blue screen is coming up on startup. Will the program still work?

Update: We've managed to boot windows in safe mode, but that's it.

Problem SOLVED! So here's the deal. I had installed the latest gtx 1070 drivers thinking laptop gpu = desktop gpu in the case of the 10 series. If that is or isn't the case, installing the GPU drivers from the asus website solved the problem. Now it's pinned at 60fps full time (because of...
