Is this a Decent Gaming Computer?

Complete idiot? Well, notice that monitor is 60Hz, so anything over it is waste. At least I figured out that one. Also, I said Radeon R9 380 4GB, not R9 380 2GB. How do I know that is 2GB? Easy http://www.anandtech.com/show/9784/the-amd-radeon-r9-380x-review/6 Benchmarks alone are useless...

Is this a Decent Gaming Computer?

For 60Hz FullHD monitor, GTX980 offers very little over R9 380 4GB. So I still suggest getting very good video card now and when it's time for bigger one, swap video card also. GTX980 is not good enough for 4K anyway. I consider 500$ for 28nm GPU (that 28nm manufacturing tech is over 4 years old...

Is this a Decent Gaming Computer?

Why not upgrade? 14/16nm cards are coming. GTX980 seems not so good for Directx 12 software. Also GTX980 is far from enough for 4K resolutions.

Is this a Decent Gaming Computer?

Skylake set was already recommended. Others: - SSD is good. No reason to swap MLC (BX100) to TLC drive (850 Evo). - For 60Hz display, consider cheaper video card. GTX980 is very expensive and not future proof. Also much better video cards are coming. So R9 380 4GB is my recommendation. - PSU is...

Amd Athlon X4 860K heat problem

HW monitor also shows that +12V is 4.2V. Some programs just cannot properly read all sensor data. Speedfan says single temperature on my computer is -128 degrees. What a freezer!

Amd Athlon X4 860K heat problem

Thermal limit seems to be 72 degrees C for that CPU so your CPU temp is around 65 degrees C. Not serious problem. Coretemp should show exact temperatures on that CPU.

Amd Athlon X4 860K heat problem

CPU temperature is lower than thermal limit, so no serious problems there. You probably have poor cooler and/or case cooling.

    LGA775 CPU upgrade question

Different companies on some cases but i945 example applies to Intel only. 965 chipset has support for bigger FSB but if 965 board is made to support only Pentium 4 CPU's, then motherboard does not accept C2D. AM3 and AM3+ has different power requirements. Some AM3 boards support AM3+ CPU's but...

    LGA775 CPU upgrade question

Exactly. So AMD760 and AM3 has no FX CPU support but AMD760 and AM3+ has. But chipset are still same. Good example where chipset does not make difference, motherboard does. Same thing with i945. Pentium 4 only compatible motherboard with i945 chipset does not support Core 2. But Core 2...

    LGA775 CPU upgrade question

I meant 925. So I edited 925 to my post and now it's relevant. There are not any? But so what?? There are also many i945 with support only for Pentium 4, so i945 chipset was basically made before it was known what are exact requirements for Core 2 Duo. So i945 chipset should ber incompatible...

    LGA775 CPU upgrade question

When talking about desktops. Basically any chipset that supports any Pentium 4 CPU also supports any Core 2 duo. Full support requires that chipset supports high enough FSB and that motherboard supports processor. + driver support etc. So 925 chipset supports every Core 2 processor. Not fully...

    LGA775 CPU upgrade question

First BIOS release date is 2004/10/01. Core 2 Duo come out 2006 so there is very small possibility that Core 2 is supported. Also Abit's CPU support list don't list that motherboard to be Core 2 compatible. So based on those, Core 2 Duo will not work on that motherboard.

    LGA775 CPU upgrade question

Fully support mean high enough FSB. Pentium 4 and Core 2 Duo use same CPU bus so basically any chipset that supports Pentium 4 also supports Core 2 Duo. CPU socket voltage is that determines if Core 2 Duo will work even lower clock speed or not. And even P965 does not fully support every Core 2...

    LGA775 CPU upgrade question

What do you mean? What I said is true.

    LGA775 CPU upgrade question

It's not about chipset, it's about voltage. Intel promised that Core 2 would use same voltage and VRM that Pentium 4 uses. Then motherboard manufacturers promised that their Pentium 4 compatible LGA775 board would support "future Intel CPU" (Core 2). No hard to guess what Intel did after that.

Who else has had Windows 10 forced upon them?

Exactly that arrow that opens sleep/hibernate/restart etc. I personally know many people who have problems clicking that. Some use laptop with touchpad. No hard to guess what I adviced those people to do. Not everyone is professional with computers. Microsoft wanted to use keyboard only with...

Who else has had Windows 10 forced upon them?

http://support.hp.com/doc-images/517/c03311258.jpg I have installed Windows 10 at least 30 times, perhaps even more. Have seen other people install it at least 10 times. Every time install required going through tablet like settings. Might have changed for latest builds though. I used Classic...

Who else has had Windows 10 forced upon them?

Icon is small and there is delay. Agreed but that settings menu must be handled first. Switch to another user account?

Who else has had Windows 10 forced upon them?

All apps is not same as Programs. On Programs it's possible to scroll with pressing first letter on keyboard. Does not work on All apps. Start menu requires tablet like moves. Pick File Explorer and press keyboard right arrow. Now that arrow icon right of File explorer is selected. Press right...
