I unplugged the aux cord so the pc will run the sound through the tv, however it is not recognizing the tv. It only says Digital Audio (S/PDIF)

So I hooked my pc up to my tv via HDMI, but the sound won't play through the tv speakers. I tried hooking an aux cord from the pc to tv, but still no dice. However, when I disconnect my hdmi cord sound will play through the tv. Any suggestions on what to do? I'm updating the graphics card right...
