How do I maximize performance of an IBM PC/XT?

I guess I could try to, but I've never made a look alike monitor. Sounds fun!

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

OK, I should clarify. "To install Windows NT 3.5 [And Windows NT 3.51, I know, I tried it.] on a computer that has a sixth-generation or later x86 processor,[14] one has to modify files on the installation CD-ROM.[2]" Okay, that was from the Wikipedia article, but I don't have the technology...

Someone help me find a Tecra 780DVD/780CDT Hard drive enclosure/adapter.

I didn't find any on there either, I think I might just get a broken Tecra 700 series and salvage the hard drive case.

Someone help me find a Tecra 780DVD/780CDT Hard drive enclosure/adapter.

That was the first place I tried, it just gives me "0 results for Toshiba Tecra 8000 hard drive enclosure," "0 results for Toshiba Tecra 700 Series Hard drive enclosure," and "0 results for Toshiba Tecra 780 hard drive caddy." Everything I see in related items are for newer Windows laptops to...

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

I am, actually. A Pentium 1/MMX, an Am5x86 (see profile picture,) or a 486DX4. Windows NT 3.1-3.51 is litterally incapable of running on a Pentium 2/Pentium Pro or higher. A Pentium MMX will do it just fine.

Someone help me find a Tecra 780DVD/780CDT Hard drive enclosure/adapter.

Hello, greetings, etc, I've been looking for the hard drive enclosure for the Toshiba Tecra 780DVD/780CDT laptop. I need to get this replaced to put it in use as a Windows 95 Osr 2.1 machine. If anyone can, it would be of great benefit if someone could help me find a replacement keyboard. I...

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

I said early Windows NT, not 95 or 98.

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

I'm likely going to dual boot it with Windows 95 so I can play early Windows games and MS-DOS games, not that I do that much. I wouldn't use a Pentium Pro or Pentium 2, as how early Windows NT behaves with the newer processors.

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

I'm working on finding a Pentium 1 or Am5x86 laptop, so I can max out the ram to 32 or 64 MB (Yes, I said 64MB of ram on a Pentium 1.) Probably won't find a good one though. I don't want to mess up the install of Windows 95 on my Thinkpad 701c, otherwise it would've been the perfect candidate...

What can I improve about my setup?

But mine is twice the size of a football, with protruding wires from every angle, and because it is a somewhat round object, it has a fraction of infinite wires protruding from it.

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

Well, I'm sorry that you had to hear that, and that you are susceptible to a dog whistle. No need to call a television names though... Sure, it's limited technology, but I don't notice the flicker, and can't hear the high pitched squeal. I'm not going to replace every monitor in the house...

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

Ha ha ha! I think I'll actually do this later, better than messing Windows NT Workstation 3.51 and Am5x86s.

    "no bootable device."

I'd get a flash drive/DVD (if DVD drive is available on the laptop) and an external drive. You need to get an Ubuntu iso and burn it to the DVD or flash drive. Then, boot Ubuntu and copy the files to the external drive, and do what ever, copy it to your own internal drive. Hope this helps.

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

Vintage computing? For a second, I thought vintage computing was a hobby for some reason. (Although CRTs aren't completely vintage.)

What can I improve about my setup?

I won't post mine, it looks like Cousin It meets phone line, coax, composite/component, and-- Hey! I found my AUX cord! (Edit: It's a fire hazard, but a good portion of it is unplugged, so all is well.)

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

I don't know, it isn't period correctness or poorness. I guess I could make a period correct Windows XP machine... But still, I don't know. I think it's a hobby.

Someone please enlighten me on buying CRTs.

I'm not arguing, rather informing. The squealing sound heard from the CRT is in so high it falls in the 15-20KHz range, which is above the hearing range of the adult. The hearing range of a teenager or child goes all the way to ~20KHz. This is what you remember, and why some people can't hear...

What can I improve about my setup?

Again, with the pieces of tubing and the binder clips. No need to buy anything, let alone expensive things.

    NVIDIA Geforce 8400GS noise [Read]

I don't know much about fans, and physical contact with the fan blades was the only thing I knew about that could cause that. I'll probably salvage the fan off of an older Radeon that is of a similar size and same connector. Problem solved I guess.

    NVIDIA Geforce 8400GS noise [Read]

Hello and greetings, I have a problem with my 8400GS, it is a PCI, not PCI Express model, and in any computer I put it in, it makes a horrid rapid clicking noise. I'll upload a sound recording of it later, but from this, what can you tell me? The power cable leading to the fan is not colliding...
