    64bit Ubuntu on Gigabyte motherboard

I have the latest BIOS, and tried 2 different drives. Every Linux distro does the same, except for Mint. I tried Fedora, Debian, almost every Ubuntu flavour, Elementary OS. No 64bit can work properly. BSD distros are a different story. I can install FreeBSD with no BIOS modifications, although I...

How can Google know my location?

No I wasn't really worried, like "Oh the NSA is going to know where I live!". I was just frustrated that I couldn't stop Google from knowing. Now that I know how it works I don't mind at all. Thanks.

How can Google know my location?

Yes. VPNs are also slower than a regular connection. At least that's what happens to me.

    64bit Ubuntu on Gigabyte motherboard

It's any 16 or 17 version. I installed 14.04.5 with no problems. What happens is it freezes completely when it gets to the install part. After you choose all your settings. I'm always speaking of 64 bit versions. The 32 bit ones work just fine. Linux Mint 64 bit also works perfectly. It's only...

    64bit Ubuntu on Gigabyte motherboard

My bad... And it doesn't. Officially it is not supported. Some people had problems with IOMMU and others with with ACPI. I've tried messing with those settings and no luck so far.

    64bit Ubuntu on Gigabyte motherboard

Does anyone have a Gigabyte motherboard, and could install Ubuntu in it? I've been having problems for a while and the Ubuntu forums haven't been much help.

Oh... Thanks. So the only way to stop that is by using a VPN right?

How can Google know my location?

Oh no it isn't but I don't like the idea of being tracked and told what I should like all the time. The same happens in YouTube and other sites. By the way, how do you know where I am?

How can Google know my location?

I'm on Windows 10, and I have disabled every location setting. I also disabled the option that lets sites check my language list to provide relevant content, but whenever I install Google Chrome, Google's homepage is always my country-specific page. How can this be? How can I stop it?

Lubuntu, 32 or 64 bit for old PC?

Seriously, it's a fresh install. And the RAM is always capped. I realize it should take a long time to boot, because of the HDD, and also launch apps, but I believe the RAM is also slowing down the process even more. If I understand correctly, once the RAM fills up, it has to write it's contents...

Lubuntu, 32 or 64 bit for old PC?

I installed fresh. It's either 8Mb or 16Mb. Can't remember now. I do remember it was a pain to use. But still, the RAM is always full. Do you think The 32bit version of W7 would be a better option?

Lubuntu, 32 or 64 bit for old PC?

Hi! I recently re-built a PC I had laying around, it has a Core 2 quad Q8200, a really old 7200RPM HDD, and only 3Gb of DDR2 RAM. The thing is, Windows 7 64bit is very slow. I was wondering, should I go for a light Ubuntu version like Lubuntu, or maybe Xubuntu? I notice the RAM is always full...
