    A decent GPU for an i5-2400 3.1ghz

that’s cool, which would more likely be the cheaper option and what would be the easiest thing to look for when buying a RX560? thanks for that tho ^^

    A decent GPU for an i5-2400 3.1ghz

That's neat. I always thought it was better performance with a Intel/NVIDIA or AMD/AMD combination over others, but looks like I'm wrong about that :P

Is Avast still the best free antivirus?

lol @ ever considering using a paid "big name" AV solution, they're memory hogs and always have been... and in some cases probably untrustable in the case of companies like Kaspersky who i seem to recall once logged a bunch of data on their own servers and shared it with russian intelligence...

    A decent GPU for an i5-2400 3.1ghz

I'm probably going to go ahead and upgrade the RAM to 8GB DDR3 SDRAM in this OptiPlex 390 at some point, but I'm not keen on touching the processor or such which is from the Sandy/Ivy Bridge era. I'm generally just interested in upping some performance in things, not a heavy at all gamer (or a...

Battery Life decrease on Pie 9.0?

There's apparently quite a lot of issues with it draining battery and appears to be an ongoing problem since quite a while from a quick search on Google. I don't have an Android device, though.

    vlc player

Look for a DVD-video authoring tool. I'm guessing that's what you're looking for - VLC can't do this, it's just a player. I don't remember any DVD-video authoring tool that was good, though, so I can't really help you with that. :/

    windows 10 version 1903 information

My desktop came with W7 originally, runs 1903 W10 like a charm anyway though so no need to use W7 (not that I like 7 too much anyway...)

    external cd/dvd drive

It was fine from an ordinary USB. Then again I didn't exactly use quality CDs either. :P Good to know, though.

Is Avast still the best free antivirus?

Didn’t Avast do something to CCleaner a while back (bundle crapware iirc), and also I always found Avast horribly difficult to uninstall anyway no matter what... always left traces somewhere. So no, it never was, even before the CCleaner scandal... Defender might not be the best (it’s pretty...

WIndows 10 Windows Updates - More Negative News/ Coverage

I always had a lot of problems with W7 tbh. Vista and 10 felt unstable at first but they’ve actually matured quite well IMO.

    windows 10 version 1903 information

@_Pete_, mind sharing the WLAN drivers installed and the WLAN chipset? Might be a known issue of some sorts. Also try disabling 5Ghz WLAN on your router and see if that stops/lessens the dropouts since I know some older chips that were used in some Macs seem to act screwy with 5Ghz...

    external cd/dvd drive

Are there any USB disc drives that are bootable? I don’t actually need one since my desktop has a DVD drive but I’m fairly curious if such a thing exists (I had one for an old netbook a while ago but it wasn’t possible to boot from it).

    Windows 7 4 GB RAM (3,17 Usable)

What was said above plus some extra detail: Usually, a 32-bit OS can only use approx. 3.83GB of RAM unless a physical address extension is used, though those typically lead to instability and you can’t allocate more than 3.83GB to an application anyway. Alongside that your onboard graphics are...

    Post your specs!

I picked up a Dell OptiPlex 390 yesterday for just £60 in full working order which was an absolute bargain! I’ll post my specs here as my first post here on this forum.
