Success JohnB35 - deleted Vivaldi and after 24 hours not a single pop-up!! At least if this happens again with someone else we know the solution. To every one of you sincere thanks for taking the time to help me - it is appreciated.

Many thanks JohnB23 - I did switch off AVG yesterday with no result. I managed to get a copy of the first one up this morning and I've sent it through "Upload a file" Just hope I have done it correctly. If the picture doesn't appear let me know how to do it CORRECTLY please

I downloaded Malware Bytes and ran it. It did discover several 'iffy" files and deleted it deleted them Re-booted and all went well for about 15 minutes and they started coming up again one after the other - always the same adverts that have no interest to me or anyone else for that matter...

I am using the bought and paid for AVG which I know is not the best but it was on offer!! I'll try Malaware Bytes now and let you know if it finds anything. Thanks in meantime for both of your help
