If you are carefull and dont update and dont do anything to suspicious than I wouldnt worry to much about it. I have a "friend" who did the same thing and nothing happened. You just cant get updates or upgrade it. ( well you can but I cant tell you how on this )

I would try to look at Computer Specs 101 first. Those machines are good for the price you are talking about. If you want you can also upgrade the parts dont have to buy just what is suggested. I would suggest a 400+ watt psu And a sata hdd.

I finally know the problem. And I got a doa mobo. I tested everything else and that was why it wouldnt work. Now I get to wait for the new one to come in :)

Well I know it isnt the psu I just tested that two days ago now. I am having someone with same socket come over and I am going to try and see if the vid card works if not I know my problem. and possibly test the cpu. Thanks for the reply :)

I had an extra hard drive lying around so I figured I would put xp pro on for the fun of it. I have wipped this hdd out and done this about 8 times. This last time I did it everything was all fine but I had no modem detection. Nor did I have any internet drivers... The hdd came from an old...

Another thing I have not tested on my mobo is the mvp card. I was just thinking about it.. could that be bad? when I got my mobo it was not in the anti static sleeveing. If it was bad would I get nothing on the screen even with a working gfx card?

Yea, windows xp pro. Havent had a chance to put drivers on cd, room mate hasnt been around for me to get them off of his computer.

It is the intel board actually. ON gateway computer. But thank you. And as for the cd that is good. I might try copying them from my friends computer and see if that works

No, I mean that the os installed has no internet drivers. And I was wondering if I could put the drivers onto a cd and put them in that way.
