I just ordered this heatsink and I notice it looks like it has a grey pad on it on the bottom, but it does not say either way on the instructions. The installation instructions do not say anything about applying paste though so I assume this is a pad?

I ended up placing the CPU carefully on it's back inside a static free bag so that the top of the bag does not touch the front of the CPU, and placed it on a shelf. It is LGA755 chip

Hey guys, I have to RMA my MoBo, So I will need to pull out my CPU and RAM and HD's and store them somewhere until it's time to rebuild. What's the best thing to put them in to keep it safe and static free?

I may have jumped the gun a bit... since it's moved to 9%... Just going a LOT slower than i'm used to. Is there any downside to using the "QUICK" format option?

This question now becomes more relevant because the re-formatting process seems to be stuck on 7% for 30 minutes now... I dont ever recalling it taking THIS long. HELP!

upon typing "chkdsk" (It doesnt recognize chkdsk /f or chkdsk/f)... It says "it appears there is one or more unrecoverable problems" or something to that extent. Does that mean I wont be able to run windows on the drive and have it function normally?

Hey, ANOTHER problem. My main computer, is gonna need a new MoBo, which will take about 3-4 weeks to be finished with, so I bought a new cheap GFX card for my old PC so I could have something in the meantime. I figured 30 bucks was a decent price for a one month "rental"... Anyway so I plug...

Hey guys, for those who still care... I took it into the shop and they tested it out in front of me for about 5 minutes, and basically came to the conclusion that something was wrong with the MoBo. Also the guy pointed out that it appeared as if one side of the little case for the CPU was...

there is no onboard vid card :( No sound card (I use an interface), no phys card. Just 2 HD drives and a CD drive.

yeah... I even unplugged the PSU from the mobo and took the battery out and let it sit like that for 40 minutes.

ahh I have no idea whats wrong :confused: I just reseated it with new thermal paste, and it still dont gimme a beep or a video signal... At least it was nice to see that my previous job resulted in a nice round circle of paste

Yeah I did the line as recommended for dual core by Arctic Silver on their website.... My question is that when reseating it, should I clean off the paste I just put on yesterday and re-do the whole process with fresh paste or just stick it back on their using the paste from yesterday?

Ok, one thing... Is it safe to just take the heat sink off after I just re-seated it? will I have to clean it again and reapply thermal paste?

WAIT... one big question. When I cleaned and reseated the CPU, I did it with it still "locked" into the MoBo, I cleaned it etc without unloocking it. Was this a problem?

thx paratwa... apparently the only thing I can clear via jumpers is the Internal Clock... I did unplug and replug the PSU, and am currently trying to figure out how to get the battery out because the manual had no instructions on that specific part. If the Cd and Graphics card start does that...
