The Pentium Dual-Cores are still really nice. Just because it's at the bottom fo the food chain doesn't make it a bad CPU.

The 6000+ is still a great CPU. Whatever the cost is, I'd get whichever is cheaper, both will perform very well.

Sure it's wroth it. He's got enough memory, a good CPU, only lacking thing is that video card. his PC is just fine. Give him the 8800GTS 320MB and he'll be even better. Just because it's a P4 doesn't mean it's a "bad" PC.

generally if it's RAM though you won't even get so far to even boot up the OS. Could be that virus that's roaming around, got it on my other PC from MySpace I believe. Basically when you get into the OS it will just reboot, over and over again. My advice...reformat.
