A great picture and a few million dollars after the lawsuit he is going to file. Seems like a winning situation to me.

the best thing to do if you are donating a pc is to remove the hard drive and donate the pc without a hard drive.

    computer performance

you might want to look into magic jack www.magicjack.com It's $20 a year for unlimited service. I've been using it for a while and haven't experienced any sort of decrease in performance in internet speed on the PC it is running off.

    First Computer Ever!

Great build IMO. The Hard Disk Drive you selected is awesome with the big fat 32mb of cache. The e8400 is an excellent processor; quiet, cool, and energy efficient. Personally, I wouldn't recommend the quad core for your needs, it consumes a lot more power. Besides, the performance different...

    Phenom + free mobo

StrangeHold - that board will work fine with the 9850. It's not optimal if you plan to overclock but it will work just fine for basic needs. If you don't believe me read the reviews for that mobo.

Am I going to need to buy Thermal Paste with this Processor?

The thermal pad should be fine. You can use arctic silver if you want but be cautioned that sometimes temps actually go up due to the compound not being applied properly. I would stick to the TP if I were you. If you are not overclocking or overclocking slightly it will be fine.

    E8400 vs Q6600

If you are considering "future proof" CPUs, overclocking to 4 ghz is not an ideal approach. If you are going to overclock please do so in moderation to extend the life of the CPU.

Which CPU brand do you choose? Version 3

Which CPU brand do you choose? Version 2 I think things are subjective at this point; AMD seems to be the better deal for builders on a budget, while Intel seems to be the leading choice for power users and/or gamers. What do you guys think, I'm including 3 options on this poll. 1) AMD...

Check with your school's IT department. They may changed something which would require you to change the settings on your router.

    My first build, please comment

Get a sata DVD-Burner instead of a dvd-rom. For the price of that processor I would go with Intel; Intel's quad core CPUs surpass AMD's quad core CPUs. If you do decide to stick with the Phenom that Mobo will be fine, as long as you don't overclock.

    Super budget build

LOL, don't worry this one is not for a buyer, it is for an HTPC. The reason I chose that case is because it fits in nice with furniture in the theater.

    Rate This Computer!

if you are transferring files over the network switch to a 10/100/1000 card, that should be on standard on a board like that anyway. Everything else looks at great. At this price range (1500+) you really can't go wrong with any of the components available in the price range. You may want to go...

    Super budget build

That's right it's basically used to play video files downloaded and/or ripped on the projector. It will not be used for gaming or anything of the like, just to watch streams and downloads, as well as occassional web surfing etc, I don't need a powerful system. I will be running fedora 9 on this...

    Super budget build

That board only supports 2 gb of ram. That's also a very slow processor. I prefer to stick with AMD's Athlon 64 x2.

    First Computer Build(Need Advice!!)

good build. If you want you can get an Asus p5k or a Gigabyte p35-ds3l and save the extra few bucks on an 8800gs. I would also go with ddr2-800 (pc6400) instead of the ddr2-1000 (if it's any cheaper) The antec 900 is an excellent case but is loud as hell. It's a great choice, provided...

    First Computer Build(Need Advice!!)

8800gs or 8800gt should be perfect for you, they are good for light to moderately heavy gaming. You will need a power supply unit. 500 watts or so if you don't want to overclock. Also, since you are building new, and want this system to last a while, don't hesitate to go to 4 gb of ram. ddr2...
