My PC won't connect to the internet, please help!

Luckily, opening Chrome with administrator privileges seems to have fixed that issue. I only had to do that once and now it opens normally.

My PC won't connect to the internet, please help!

Thanks! Trying the other restore point seems to have worked! At first it didn't work because it said an anti-virus program was denying access to files, go figure! Then I un-installed Avast yet again and it worked! Of course, the restore put it back and it once again froze and caused issues...

My PC won't connect to the internet, please help!

Thanks. I'll try the other system restore entry, even though I'm not sure it's the same thing as the first one. I also have Avast set not to auto-update, so I'm not sure how it would have done so while I was away. At any rate, I'm definitely moving on from it. Even after I un-installed it...

My PC won't connect to the internet, please help!

Hi all. I am having a major issue again with my PC losing connection to the internet. This has actually happened before, and while I was never able to figure out a solution, I did a system restore and that fixed the problem. But I just tried that again and it didn't work this time. It's still...

WIndows 10 How can I prevent my PC from waking up from sleep mode on its own?

Yes, is that what that second item is? Thank you! For now I just unchecked the "Wake the computer" setting. Hopefully that will fix it!

WIndows 10 How can I prevent my PC from waking up from sleep mode on its own?

This is all that it shows. I'm not sure what that second one is. Can it be disabled?

WIndows 10 How can I prevent my PC from waking up from sleep mode on its own?

Hi all. I've noticed lately that my PC sometimes wakes up from sleep mode at night, or other times I'll just come home and it's already awake. I did a quick search and found that I can run the powercfg -lastwake command to see more information, so this is what I came up with: But now I'm...

How can I tell if my PC has bluetooth?

Hi all. I'm thinking of using my Nintendo Switch controller with Steam games, but I'm not sure my PC has on-board bluetooth to do so. Is there something I can check to see if it does? Thanks!

Why am I getting "insufficient disk space" errors?

I've actually already removed the SD card and sent the phone back for trade-in, so I can't check that right now. I still have the SD card, of course, so at least it's backed up in that sense (and in Google Photos). I'll have to run a check on it when I get a chance and see what happens.

Why am I getting "insufficient disk space" errors?

Hmm, not sure. They are almost all pictures, probably some videos, but I keep my videos done with my phone fairly short, so I don't think any of them would get that big. Would that have stopped the whole transfer?

Why am I getting "insufficient disk space" errors?

Not too long. They are whatever the pictures are saved as when I take them with my phone. Just a bunch of numbers like 123456787_123456.jpg

Is it normal for a speedtest to be "jerky" when it's running?

During a download test I just did, Chrome was shown using about 30% of the CPU (in Task Manager). Is that where I need to look? Is that normal?

I accidentally hit the power switch on my surge protector and now I can't connect to the internet -- please help!

Huh, I kind of assumed that it being the default Windows option, it wasn't as good! :) Maybe I'll give it a try. Less obtrusive is always better!

I accidentally hit the power switch on my surge protector and now I can't connect to the internet -- please help!

I also use Malwarebytes as a supplement, but how did Avast get worse? It seems okay to me, aside from this incident, which I don't think was its own fault.

Is it normal for a speedtest to be "jerky" when it's running?

I'll have to check that later, because right now it's not doing it, but it's also a lot lower speed (around 60 Mbps, maybe because of congestion on a Saturday night). Do I just have my Task Manager open to test it? Also, for what it's worth, earlier when I was doing a speed test and it was...

I accidentally hit the power switch on my surge protector and now I can't connect to the internet -- please help!

I use the free version. I was wondering if Windows Defender was maybe enough on its own.

Is it normal for a speedtest to be "jerky" when it's running?

Hi all. I've noticed today that when I run a speedtest on Ookla, the download portion is kind of jerky, meaning every second or so it freezes or halts somewhat, even though it's still going. It's not as smooth as I've seen it in the past. Is that an indication of anything? Here's a video I...

I accidentally hit the power switch on my surge protector and now I can't connect to the internet -- please help!

That's odd. I've never had an issue with it before now, and I feel like this was caused by the power turning off abruptly rather than Avast itself. Do you have any recommendations?
