ok so i managed to install opensuse. im pretty sure when i partitioned, something mounted to my windows hard drive. is this normal? something to do with bootup,perhaps? now on bootup i get a screen asking me which OS i want so i think i did it right.atleast some of it. only now i cant configure...

westen digital has been around longer than seagate. i personally have always used seagate and never had a problem. my mom has a seagate in her single core athlon build that i built 8yrs ago. still works !

i enabled the raid controller as well as my sata ports in my bios. then, entered the raid utility where i did everything i was told to and i did see a post after exiting that i had a healthy array. so, i started installing windows(hit f6 to make sure i got to install raid drivers) installed...

i just went from 2 to 4gigs. ddr2 800 is getting so cheap i recommend it. i paid $80 bucks for 4gigs:D

if it was me id buy 4gigs 2x2gb, then you have xp 32bit maxed out and you already have the memory when you upgrade to vista. check the speed of your hdd. if it is 5300rpm, upgrade to 7200rpm

ive had really good luck with Seagate.

i was just reading that part in my mobo manual. i guess i will just get the RAID setup and then try to setup a dual boot afterwards. if its possible, i suppose it will let me.if not, i wonder what will happen. dont you just love trial and error ?:D
