Thanks guys, that's what I was thinking. Although the green light on the motherboard will still light on when connected to a PSU, it can still be fried, correct?

Thanks for the input. I've come up with another idea, and have no idea how it will turn out. Remove the drive, boot up, pop in the OS cd, then put the drive back in once the OS cd loads. Maybe there is a slight chance it will recognize the drive and I can either repair or start a fresh...

I can share hard drives and what not just fine. But I want to share the CD disk drive so I can access a cd on the netbook from the desktop comp. Both Windows XP and in same workgroup.
