    E8400 vs Q6600

A friend of mine has his Q6600 running at stock (2.4Ghz) with the stock Intel cooler mounted and it does about 35/36 idle and 42/43 (43 at maximum, after an hour of stressing or something) at room temperatures of 21 maybe 22 degrees. I think you can do 8*333 easily without having to change the...

    E8400 vs Q6600

Q6600 is a better balance between Gaming and Other non-gaming apps. Why not take it when it's cheaper and will OC high enough to play whatever game you throw at it?

I'll repost it now... I want the maker to read this.

    E8400 vs Q6600

What the hell are you guys talking about... Q6600 G0, that will get up to 4Ghz as well. http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1159/2/overclocking_the_g0_slacr_q6600_to_4ghz/index.html It starts on Page two... I was too lazy to zap back. And just because these guys got it up to 4Ghz... It...

    2nd 3870?

You have guarantee from the company right? Why wouldn't you. CF scales quite nicely.

    sli or no

It depends on which drives you take, if you enable SLI and which card(s) you pick. The 9600GT happen to have an average 80% boost. Which is great actually. 9800GX2 are basically two even lower clocked 8800GTS G92's, better you just get an Nvidia chipset and two 8800GTS G92's then.

fsb mobo and ram speed question

As long as your FSB doesn't run at twice the speed of that ram, you won't notice any difference. It might even run slower because of the higher latencies. I'd suggest the max you should get is 1066mhz and underclock that to the good corresponding speed. But you can also just get 800mhz and...

    Do PCI-E slots come off?

I'm very sorry... But I giggled when I read this thread.

    9 Series Dissapointment

Not slightly, quite a bit if you ask me. But a 9600GT would be a card I'd recommend friends of mine if they want to game a bit more extensive (seeing most of my friends don't know all that much about computers), it gets good framerates at basically everything as long as you don't crank it up to...

    Multiplier rapidly changing

OC it to whatever you want, it will change the multiplier only if I am correct. So if you OC it to 9*400 it will be that speed when you actually use it. If you're not using it it will go back to 6*400 (2.4Ghz).

Intel Core 2 Extreme + Picking a processor

For 50 dollars you can buy yourself a nice and good Scythe cooler for that QX6850. And the QX6850 is clocked higher then the Q9300, has more Caché, has an unlocked multiplier and it has the uberl compatibility with practically every motherboard. Basically it's better stock, and it will...

    9 Series Dissapointment

Well, over here the 9800GTX was priced the same as the 8800GTS for a while. But then all of the sudden the 8800GTS dropped in price. So I changed my order (just in time). They're the same cards, it's exactly the same as with the 8800GTX and the 8800 Ultra. The exact same card, only then the...

Best GPU for abt 200 Pounds

9xxx series should be fine thank you, initial testing at the shop were doing great on a single 9800GTX (especially the OC'ing of the part).

    8800GT 512mb SLI with 8800GT 1gb

Games can us that much RAM on a card, only you'd have to set the settings and resolutions quite high, and an 8800GT won't do all that good on high settings and 2500*1920. To adress 1024mb of videocard ram, you'd have to have the following: - Enough SP's to actually process it - A big enough...

    Case necessary?

I enjoy the look of a big black box. Though, unlike you, I plan on putting it on the ground (and possibly making nice extensions on the bottom and then making fans in the bottom)

    need power supply for gpu

Well, what version is it. 512mb? And what other components do you have in your computer?
  18. Timo

    Case necessary?

Antec Three Hundred. Do type the words rather then just 300, Antec 300 will get you a Antec 300 minuet flat Desktop case.... Which is something you'd see on schools.

    Case necessary?

Cheap solution from Antec: Add a Hard disk silencer that cools as well and you'll still be cheaper then a 900

Help Me Choose Between These Two Processors

Well, I'm gonna say that all it is doing is idling on 45 watts (or 65) for those 16 hours to show you minimal savings. With 45 watts idling 16 hours you would use, assuming one killowatt will cost you 15 dollarcents, 0.045*0.15*16*365 = 39.42 dollars a year. And when you idle at 65 watts that...
