No laptop is going to be close to the specs of your desktop. Having said that, if you want a high end gaming laptop, you should look into the Dell XPS series or a boutique builder such as Alienware or Sager.

56C isn't too bad. If you're worried or if it feels uncomfortable during use, get a notebook cooler. Vantec makes some good ones and are available off Newegg.

If you're going to be using both computers for the internet, you mind as well get a router and network them.

If you're going to play any decent games, you'll want the X700. The 200M is an IGP and won't be able to handle much.

You'll be able to pick up 802.11a as well as b and g. However, 802.11a is outdated and you'll more than likely be using mostly g.

Agreed. I highly doubt Windows would let you do anything that might damage your hardware without being tweaked first.

Your on die thermal diode is probably faulty. At 100C, water boils. Whether or not your notebook is overheating, I'd call tech support and try to send it back to get fixed or replaced. You never know what else could go wrong.

That has to be an error. 155C is over 300F... everything around the processor would melt or warp at that temp.

Get a new router. I got my Netgear wireless for $30 after rebates from Best Buy. Just look around and wait for a good deal.

Doesn't the 3000+ only have 128KB of L2 Cache? Is half the L2 Cache of an already halved L2 Cache series processor worth it with only a 200MHz bump? Just curious....

You know, as I get older, I've been playing more and more games. Someone once told me that the average age of gamers was in the early thirties. Guess they were right. Doesn't mean that I'm any good at it.

Actually, I'm not a student. I just used a co-worker's brother-in-law's student ID to get the discount. I know it was wrong, but the student discount was only $50 or so. Anyway, 2 years is a good number for me. I'll probably want something better by that time.
