How fast is my CPU really running?

I wish I would have tested the system speed prior to the upgrade. Thanx for the link, I'll try that tonight.

    Digital Cam- Hardware Wiz

Well that is one way to fix your issue. Get a new computer. Actually this should work very well because it should come with Win XP. I have sense upgraded to Win XP and was planning on loading all my drivers to down load from my digital camera when I noticed Win XP automatically recognized it. I...

    Video editing

I posted this on another string but thought it might be of some help. Try not to get frustrated but capturing, editing, rendering and finally out putting a completed project in a usable format on a PC is hard work. It is NOT straight forward and I hate to say that this is were Apple computers...

Software for downloading movies from camcorder

Try not to get frustrated but capturing, editing, rendering and finally out putting a completed project in a usable format on a PC is hard work. It is NOT straight forward and I hate to say that this is were Apple computers perform the best. I have had the same problem you are having many...

How fast is my CPU really running?

Well I just installed a Celeron 1GHz CPU in my old HP Pavilion mobo. Everything I have researched and ask questions about on this forum stated that my mobo would not support 800MHz CPU or higher. The BIOS setup screen states the new CPU is a Celeron 1GHz, 128Kb cash and a 100MHz FSB speed...

    refomating problem

Interesting, I have been using the Windows scan disk. I now have Norton Utilities, which has a scan disk or speed disk process. Do you think that would be faster?

Can a chipset be replaced or upgraded?

Yeah, I thought so. By this time I have replaced just about everything on the mobo. Might as well get a new mobo for another $100 or a whole new system.

    refomating problem

It's too old to return but I have been trying to get scan disk to completely scan thru the whole drive. When it found the damaged cluster it said it would mark that cluster as un-repairable so future data would not be stored there. Then it said to rerun scan disk again to recognize the change...

How many slaves can the master have?

I have a mini ATX case and the HDD is just slapped up against the front grill opening with two screws but it's out of the way of everything. It's not in a 3.5" drive bay. After I realized that I have an open 3.5" drive bay I just installed it there, fits perfect like you said. Although, the...

What is the bottle neck in over all system speed / performance?

When you say look at the BIOS do mean go into the BIOS set up at the beginning of the boot up process? If so, I don't see anything in there that talks about changing the FSB speed. As for jumpers on the board, are they like the jumpers on a HDD to select master or slave? If so, I don't see...

    overclocking

Well I ordered an OEM, P3-850MHz, 100MHz FSB CPU because it's all I could find in a 100MHz FSB. I didn't go with a CPU at 133MHZ FSB because I believe my mobo will only support 100MHz FSB. So, do you think the heat sink and fan (currently on my 733MHz Celeron) will fit on the 850MHz P3 that...

Can a chipset be replaced or upgraded?

I can't figure out how to change the FSB speed on my MoBo. I think the board Mfg is (CUW-AM) or may be that is the model number. I did find a small chart in the silk screen printing on the board that shows different jumper locations for different FSB speeds but I can't find the jumpers to change...

    problem...

I have a similar problem on my Celeron - 370 socket board. I found a small chart printed on the board that shows jumper locations for different FSB speeds but I can't figure out how to change them. Is it dip switches, jumpers, software controlled or is it all automatic? My board has a Intel...

What is the bottle neck in over all system speed / performance?

The install of the ram (now 512Mb) and HDD went well. I was looking aover my MoBo last night trying to find some Manufacture Info or model number on it. All I noticed is something that looking like a brand name (CUW-AM). I did notice some small printing that looked like a chart to set jumpers...

How many slaves can the master have?

I installed the new drive with no issues but I could not install the old one as the slave. The main reason is that the ribbon cable for the HDD does not have a second connector. The power cable has two connectors but not the data cable. I'll need to get a new cable but how do I secure the slave...

    What size is your Mother…board?

How do you tell what size MoBo will fit a given case? I have a HP Pavilion mini tower (Model 6649F). The HP web site does not give specific info on MoBo in their systems.

    Win XP w/Celeron CPUs?

The MS Windows XP web site states that the min system requirements to run Win XP are a Pentium CPU of at least 233MHz. Can I load the Win XP Home version on an old HP Pavilion with the Celeron (500MHz) processor?

    change jpeg to tiff

The finished quality concern is real. Your end result is only as good as your source file. You will create a larger file when converting from JPEG to TIFF but the computer can not fill in the missing image data. You need to take the original picture in a TIFF format to gain the printed picture...
