    I've used a "Live-CD" for this purpose, along with a thumb drive or external USB HD to transfer files from a non-bootable drive. For live cd's, Knoppix has worked great for me.

    Just to add, removing your HD, placing it inside an external enclosure and being able to access it's files does NOT mean that it can properly boot, because you are not booting the other computer with that drive in that configuration.

    An external usb hard drive can also be an ideal solution. I've used it to back up my files, then cleaned-up all the garbage from my computer. Their portable, affordable and can easily be stored at a remote location if desired.

    No need for any additional hardware. If you create a network with the built-in software of the Operating Sytem, you can choose to have the printers and scanners share their resources to both computers.

    I think I know what your asking. No, it won't work. If we could increase our internet connection by simply adding NIC's, everyone would. Instead, you must purchase increased internet bandwith from your ISP.
