On your disc which doesn't boot, is the jumper on the master position? Can you see this HD into the BIOS?

    Overclocking my CPU Question

What is your mobo? I think you won't can overclock your CPU because brands lock their bios. You can check into the bios if you can change any clock or voltage, but I'm almost sure you won't can =/ The best solution to get the full power of your GPU would be changing your mobo/CPU/ram. These...

New Overclocker. Have a question Q8200

The CPU multi has been decreased by the motherboard (7 to 6). I think it is automatic... Lock the CPU multi to 7 into the BIOS. And disable all kind of options for the energy saving, etc.

Which CPU is best for me?

Mazinya won't overclock, the unlocked multi is useless in his situation. The socket 775 isn't dead, it stay the last Intel socket after the 1366 which is a bit so expensive for the moment. I think the choice may depend of the motherboard that Mazinya shall be buying in the two cases (AM2 or...

Which CPU is best for me?

E8400 I've got it and it has never deceived me. Sometimes I'm running like 6 or 7 programs in the same time (games, msn, firefox, photoshop, avast, and littles softwares as coretemp, steam...), all the time the CPU works fine and fast. That CPU is a sure worth.

    overclocking question

The most important when overclocking is not the pure power of the PSU but the stability of its differents voltages. If it's a good brand, you should have no problem.

What do you use to test your overlocking?

20 years instead of 50 ? no matter. I change my computer every 2 years anyway

    Post your SuperPi Score!

Damnnnn!! You're lucky... The highest clock I've got with my E8400 was 4.6GHz, with a highest Vcore than you. And I didn't manage to get it stable. (I was scared of raising again and again the Vcore. I'm not Intel sponsored ^^) The highest stable clock I've got is 4.5GHz. My E8400 needs...

What do you use to test your overlocking?

I think it's not realy risked to test on your computer if you ain't sur at 100% of your settings. All "recent" mobo have alarms and securities. It's almost impossible to toast your computer if you don't force any safety. Read a lot before overclocking, about the FSB, dram ratio, what components...

What do you use to test your overlocking?

Yes. Electric circuits are biggers and strongers.

What do you use to test your overlocking?

I think I didn't expect the real risks when I bumped up the Vcore as high. Now, I wont try again. I've hit the extrem limit of my CPU and I'm satisfied. My Vcore is at 1.425v since the last summer. (and it's still stable)

What do you use to test your overlocking?

Realy? My current settings for 24/7 use are 1.425v (BIOS, 0.025v Vdrop) and 4GHz (I've got an E8400). I've ever booted with 1.670v, I just got a "CPU voltage error, F1 to force boot" after the BIOS loading lol. I was trying Superpi 1M at 4.6GHz... failed :(

What do you use to test your overlocking?

Lol Yes it should be enough for 2.4GHz. If you're lucky it's possible that you wont be forced to bump the Vcore for a +600MHz overclock. And bumping the Vcore is not a problem once you stay under 1.4v and 60c in load.

    MSI K9NBPM2-FID question..

If the mobo doesn't match with the description and doesn't please you so, just return it to the shop. no ?

What do you use to test your overlocking?

1.8GHz  and I was moaning when my C2D was at 3GHz, I found it too low xD After changing the cooling, I think you can easily overclock at 2.5-3GHz

What do you use to test your overlocking?

Personally I didn't know that ATI-tool can stress the GPU. I'll test with it if I overclock my hd4870. I had overclocked my 8600GTS and I tested it with 3dmark06. I think that if the GPU can run 2 or 3 3dmark06 in a row, it is stable.

    Post your SuperPi Score!

Your score is not bad but you can hit easily 3GHz with your CPU.
