    Deciding between two HP laptops

I had said my budget was no more than $500, and I am really only deciding between these two machines for other reasons. My main questions were about Bluetooth, USB 3, and overall which of those two might be a better buy.

    Deciding between two HP laptops

#1G6 #2 Probook I'll be using the machine for college, and really don't want to spend more than $500. I'm open to other suggestions, but I'm mainly deciding between these two. The G6 is not as asthetically pleasing, has a bigger harddrive (not terribly important to me), bluetooth...

    Max. RAM speed.

Yes I know that, it's that the board DOESN'T say 1600 (O.C), just 1600. So my question is, if I have 1600mhz RAM, no overclock, will I be able to overclock it from there?

    Max. RAM speed.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188046 That board says it only supports up to 1600, but it doesn't have (O.C) with it, so if I overclock PC312800 will it overclock or just stay at 1600?

Setting up an internet connection with Linux.

Well maybe not Linux, Fedora 10. I don't really know the difference. But I'm on a computer running XP now, and have my Gateway, Subnet, and IP through CMD. But I still can't get the internet to work on Linux, any ideas?

    <$400 build

You should expand your budget if at all possible. That's a fairly good processor, in a crap motherboard. It only supports 800mhz RAM, and only 4gigs. If you ever want to upgrade at all, your going to have a hard time. I think that you should expand your budget, get a decent power...

    hp ram

Yes it can, you just need to make sure you have the correct type, DDR or DDR2. To find out, go to your BIOS, or setup (it should say hit xx for setup as soon as you start your computer), Google your motherboard, or the easiest would be to just Google your computer model. Anyway, you can have...

Need SERIOUS help on upgrading computer parts!

Yeah, Dells are very hard to upgrade. As with all OEMs. I will say this though, if you just upgrade your RAM and processor, it's not going to be the magic thing you think. I think your computer being slow is a result of having too many things running, too much running at startup, and you...

    Dual Boot.

Can someone explain how to do this in VERY DETAILED steps please? The hard part about it is it's with Fedora Ten and Windows ME. Currently I have Fedora Ten on that computer, but I can have just ME on there if that's what's needed. Oh, and there is only about a 35 gigabyte hard drive.

    New Build... But No Vista

First of all, get 64bit XP. Second, if you want Windows Seven, just get Windows Vista, I'm aware that they're eligable for an upgrade. Although you may want to check into that.

Need some help choosing a computer for my needs

Well whatever you do don't get a Dell. And if you plan on multitasking that much, I would go with a Quad-Core.

Pic of HTPC I just built

I had the same video card, but sent it back. Just before it arrived my motherboard went bad, and I just took out all of the components and didn't bother replacing it, so I sent the card back. I may buy it again though, does it perform ok? And how is the processor, also? I've been thinking...

Yes, you most defiantly need one of them. Make sure you pay attention to 64bit or 32bit.

    My first build... Help needed!!

The only thing is with your recording / editing software, you must make sure they can run on 64bit. I suppose they should though.

    My first build... Help needed!!

If you're doing video and music production, I would go with a 64bit OS with 6 - 8 gigs RAM. Also a much larger HD. Also I would get a better cooling case, and get a good CPU cooler. You'll need it.

    Yet another, Computer won't boot.

Well my friend build a computer a few years ago, a good computer at the time. But the problem is that the monitor will sometimes register the computer being on, and sometimes not. Most of the time it doesn't work. So I'll start from the beginning. We replaced the existing hard drive with...
