    Project/Spare Parts Build

Okay, so I have some spare parts from previous builds and looking for recommendations on cheap parts to finish what I need. Just want it to get functioning and will probably sell it once complete, but looking to spend as little as possible to build it. What I have: Intel i3 3220 CPU (I need a...

New Asus Monitor - No boot

You can use HDMI on the motherboard vice the RX580 card. Your radeon settings should be on your lower right task tray (where time, network, etc are).

New Asus Monitor - No boot

Hook your monitor to the integrated HDMI (or DVI) on your motherboard and attempt to boot. If it boots successfuly, look at the settings for your rx580 driver. Change the resolution to what you know will work, or what it was before, and reboot the computer with your monitor back on the 580.

    Has RAM changed?

As strollin said above, it is the speed, not the capacity that matters. 1GB vs 4GB does so much matter as much as 1333Mhz vs 1600Mhz. Both sticks would defualt to the slower 1333Mhz.

    gpu upgrade

It looks like the GPU market "might" be normalizing and prices returning to normal....slowly. My emails from pcpartpicker the last couple days have shown card prices slowly returning as they come back in stock.

    computer shuts off, very hot

Yeah I would say it is getting too hot in there. A better ventilated case and maybe even water cooling would help. Your current case doesn't have much for airflow.

    New build?

That computer is already overkill for what you are using it for. If you want a performance increase, replace the hard drive with a SSD. For $140 you can make a huge noticeable performance increase vice spending $1000 and not seeing any unless you look at benchmarks.

Can I use external laptop GPU with my PC?

I would venture to say it does not use a pci express interface so probably not.

I using 99% CPU and 90% memory bad?

Depends on your definition of "bad". Is your computer sluggish during this time? Could be poorly coded software as well.

    Possible upgrade this year

Very good points. Absolutely nothing is holding my 3570 back right now. It is just the knowledge of it being 5 years old. But yes, the video card is the priority.

64 byte on Flash Drive work on a 32 system?

You mean to boot to the flash drive and run Linux off the flash drive. Yes, it will work as it is independent of Windows at that point.

Radeon RX 560 vs GeForce GTX 1050

Looking at an upgrade at some point this year. Pretty much narrowed it down to one of these cards. Which do you prefer and why? Thank you!

    Possible upgrade this year

So I am looking to upgrade my core components this year (CPU, Mobo, RAM, and video card). I have been really looking at the Ryzen CPUs, I guess mostly because of fancy marketing. I haven't heard much about the latest Intel CPUs. I will purchase a mid-range CPU (appox. $170-$200 USD). What...

    R7 260X to RX 560 upgrade

If I wanted to upgrade my r7 260x to a rx 560, would I need to uninstall and reinstall the AMD drivers or would it be smart enough to realize the card has changed? Thank you.

    GPU Prices Skyrocketed...

Thank you. I was wondering why the current supply of video cards at newegg and micro center seems very crappy! But, wouldn't this be a CPU intensive operation, not a GPU intensive one? How could the GPU be processing this? Thank you.
