No Upgrade Since 2008, still running 40-50fps, Do Not Want To Upgrade Until 2028. Advice?

Ok, I've decided on the following. I think this is in 2018 what my PC was in 2008. Does anyone know if I will still be able to use my PSU from 2008 for a few months until I upgrade the GTX670 to a 1080, and if I leave the 8700 on stock OC for now? The PSU is a Coolermaster Silent Pro 600W...

No Upgrade Since 2008, still running 40-50fps, Do Not Want To Upgrade Until 2028. Advice?

Nonono. I used the QX9650 until today and was looking for a replacement to last me the coming years. Ok so 2028 is fantasyland but something to last atleast a couple years. Are we all agreed that (on intel) the 8700k is the best bang for buck on the high end scale?

No Upgrade Since 2008, still running 40-50fps, Do Not Want To Upgrade Until 2028. Advice?

Hi, I've been getting 40-50 fps recently out of most AAA titles on this PC I built in 2008. Now I'm looking to upgrade as I want to enable 3D projector based 1:1 lifesize wall gaming and my PC can't keep up with the 3D system I bought. I have been out of the hardware loop since '08. Can...

Help a noob set his DDR3 ram to 1333 from 1066

Will that give better performance than setting it to 1333 (seeing as CPU and MB run at 1333)? PS: it is also DDR3.

Help a noob set his DDR3 ram to 1333 from 1066

Hi, can somebody tell me how to set the effective ram to 1333 (up from 1066) to match my CPU and motherboard? I loaded the BIOS to defaults but I think it set the DDR3 1600 ram to 533? Can anyone tell?

Help a noob with a blown PSU

Some laughter at the expense of noobdom: I hooked up a 550w PSU to my new setup (790i, GTX275, E8500(E0), 4GB 1600 DDR3 Corsair RAM, 1TB Caviar Black, etc.) The PSU was an ebay buy i.e. set to 110V (US) I live in europe (220V), Little did I know the damn thing has a tiny switch at the back...

What Os can I weasle onto this POS?

Dude, XP will fly on that machine. I run XP on a 500mhz P3 and it flies. If you intend to use the thing daily stick 640 ram on it and your set. If you wan't look up a few links on the net on how to boost XP (disable some services and shorten boot time)

    $2000 Budget??

Im building a $700 setup (no monitors) using the old Core Duo 2 3.0ghz and I'm using a GTX 275. For your i7 beast I would definitely not go lower than 275. Hell I'd get a 295! Whatever you do make sure you've seen the Geforce 3D vision thing before you go on, it looks amazing in 1st person...

    Build gaming tower for $500

Guys thanks. I've completely changed the setup though. Damn anandtech was so ATI based. Turns out the GTX275 blows away the 4890 if you bother to read 20 more reviews. System is going to be Core Duo 2 E8400 (3ghz) and GTX 275. Budget will have to adapt.

    Build gaming tower for $500

Thanks for your help guys: I'm going to build a rig around the HD4890 I've decided. The only question remains what is the weakest processor that would not be a bottleneck for this GPU? I don't know whether to get AMD or Intel (I don't know the pro's and cons of each). The store...
