    How many HDD's?

Ya you don't want small hard drives. I would recommend larger drives rather than small drives as for the most part they are faster. I used to use two 250 gig drives. They I decided to just go for my WD 640gig and that's about a good amount of space for games and the operating system. Im...

    Do I have to?

A clean install is generally what I do just to be sure I don't run into issues. You CAN do a repair, but the registry won't know where all of your programs are so you would be forced to reinstall all of your programs in order for them to work. So in short, a clean install would be the best route.

    Do I have to?

More than likely you will still have to repair the os as it is generally tied to the board its installed with until you do a reinstall.

    Computer Wont Start

Hey everyones gotta learn sometime. At least you were able to get it replaced. Rule of thumb is to never go and connect a monitor to a computer that is powered on, also make sure the screen is off.

4gb of RAM on XP 32-bit?

I have 4GB with vista and it runs very smooth. XP was a powerhouse with this system, I just prefer Vista because it's more customizable. Not the most popular OS by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not near as bad as people say it is, especially with SP2 out now. XP is very good after...

Is there anything wrong with Hitachi drives?

Very good move. I have a WD 640GB drive and it is screamin fast! I replaced a Seagate 500GB drive and it doesn't even compare for noise and performance. WD is the way to go, you won't be sorry.

    Oem?

I never had a problem with that when my old motherboard went bad. Hmm. Didn't know MS did that. All I did was installed the new board with the new hard drive and away I went. MS will more than likely just renew your key if that ever becomes an issue. Although I have never had that problem...

Dell Vostro 200 keep crashing, Help

I believe you can get that off of the Seagate website and it does work very well. They have instructions on how to make it bootable too. If you need help just post back here and we try our best to help you.

Dell Vostro 200 keep crashing, Help

Well if you have a way to find out who makes your hard drive, eg seagate, wd, hitachi, etc. Download their drive utility in DOS format and they should have some guides on how to make a bootable cd and put the utility on there and it should bootup and put you through the steps on how to properly...

Dell Vostro 200 keep crashing, Help

Have you tried to clean the CD ROM? Is the XP CD scratched in any way? It sounds like it formats okay but somewhere its having a problem writing the files. It could be the cd, cdrom, or the hard drive. Have you tried using another operating system? I would check the cd and the cdrom drive...

I am bilding a compoter! Hlp em plzz!

I would seriously consider a AMD system with a ATI card as they do seem to perform as well if not better than Navidia counterpart. I have tried several of the Navidia cards and have not been the least bit impressed with em, but that's my opinion. I just find ATI have a higher clock rate than...

    AMD or Intel can't decide

Wow the old debate again lol. Okay well here goes, I think they are both great chips. I have a AMD myself and that's what I have used for the most part. Intels are more expensive than AMD and the performance from what I understand isn't all that much different. I think it would also depend...

    Odd issue with refurbished computer.

Are you sure it's supposed to have the logo? The only place I could think of it being would be in the BIOS if its there. Dunno?

    Is this price reasonable?

That's not too bad for a prebuilt system as was already stated. But as you could see from the poster above me you can find a system cheaper if you know how to look for it. I personally would go with a custom system, but I cannot stand most prebuilt systems hence I build my own. Not everyone...

Dell Vostro 200 keep crashing, Help

If you ask me I'd say the hard drive may be bad. You said you tried to format it and it said there was an error and you skipped it right? From the sounds of it you said it was during the format? If that's the case then you have a defective hard drive. Windows XP or Vista doesn't make any...

    Is this price reasonable?

I'm not very good with your currency conversion as I am from the states, but I would say that's not too bad of a price for a basic use. However I would recommend you check out a custom built system at that same configuration to see if it would be cheaper. However, that's not a bad deal. I...

Is there anything wrong with Hitachi drives?

I've heard that the new Hitachi's are ok. I personally wouldn't buy one, I'd rather a WD myself. I have had Seagates and they are second best to WD IMO. Maxtors used to be great drives, then they went down hill. I have a Maxtor that is like 7 years old and still works flawlessly. Granted...

4gb of RAM on XP 32-bit?

I have 3.25GB of RAM shown on mine and I have 4GB. Personally I think its worth the little loss for the increased performance you get. With Vista 32bit I did see all 4GB of memory. I have yet to see a slow down with XP even though I don't see all the RAM, but XP doesn't use much for it's self...

    Favorite windows hacks/tweaks

Vista is very difficult to do and if you don't do it right...BSOD upon bootup. I honestly havn't tried to do it, but I am sure there is a way. I'm just not that brave lol. I use XP on my desktop and Vista on the laptop and I don't want to screw the laptop up as it is already slow. I am sure...
