no bent pins, everything is disconnected now except for one varying stick of ram, the cpu and fan, and the psu. Running it off onboard vid, but getting no different results.it still seems strange that there are absolutely no lights or any activity on the post code area.

still nothing, no video, no post...exact same. It's a brand new mobo and cpu and vid card, so what are other possibilities specific to this mobo maybe? It shouldn't be doing the same thing after swapping that much out and what not, unless I got a bad part. Any other tips?

I have an HP dv2100 that will not come to life. When I press the power button the power led comes on, but no fan or anything else. I've tried reseating the ram, removing the dvd drive and hdd, and disabling the lid switch. Any ideas?

I tested the AC adpater with a multimeter and got the appropriate readings, so I assume it is good. Is that a proper assumption in this case? I will plug it up and try to short it to start and see if that works. Thanks.

Do you think it could be the power button board? Is there a way to jump start the laptop by shorting pins like you can with a desktop?

Nothing at all happens, no. I have it apart and there doesn't appear to be any bent pins or a short in the jack. I forgot to mention that with the battery out, when the light comes on, it only stays on for about 20 seconds and then goes out. Any other ideas? Thanks.

On this HP computer, after installing a new motherboard, I get the system fan failure message at boot up. The thing is, there is no system fan installed, never was. The BIOS is truncated as usual with these pre-fab HPs and there is no option to correct the message. Any ideas?

Ok, I managed to get the permissions successfully changed to me, but now all I get are errors from every app I try opening the pic with saying things along the line of "wrong format, can't process, etc." Basically nothing will let me open it. Do you have any idea why this might be?
