Honestly, that velociraptor is so expensive for 300gb you might as well look into a ssd imo. But if you want something fast and cheap, get a small 7200. The more disk space, the slower that rpm drive is so going lower is better for performance.

What kind of y cable are you using? If it has 2 usb inputs, why do you need a y cable? Also, make sure it is capable of reading from an hdd. Many tvs can read from usb drives but not hard drives for some reason.

Yeah, you are going to probably have to go wired if you want a good signal for gaming going that distance through walls. You could run flat ethernet cable under the carpet, they are cheap on amazon. Luckily ethernet can go large distances (328 ft) fine.

If those don't work you could use viewpoint with 2 accounts. Then you can control the other computer as if you were there. Also, usb works for a very short length. About 15 feet.

It's cheaper at best buy, but it has my specs. The one on amazon has one of the first quads that came out. The G73 is a much better deal than the amazon g72 but the core2duo isnt a slow processor and is fine if you are on a budget for a gaming laptop.

mp4 is video, or can be. Are you trying to play it in the same video player and if so which one? Also, have you moved the files between hard drives, etc?

It doesn't sound like a firmware problem to me. And theres no way that needs that much power. Also, if it fits in your mobo it fits in. I'd say the card is junk, which is why you were given it.

My HTPC has slightly under 2tb total and its all almost used up. One 1080p movie can be over 10gb in excellent quality (legally obtained, I just HATE discs). Also, recording tv shows in 720p can take its toll on your hard drive as well. On my laptop though, everything fits on my 40 gig ssd...

Drive speed wouldn't have to do with any of that. If anything, the faster a drive the better. Does it have problems with other cds? Sounds like the drive is going and you will have to get another, but they are cheap on newegg.

It goes back and forth on who is best when they upgrade their models. I'd say opposite on quality too. Intel has had some slip ups in the past. If equal price/performance I would go with amd because of the illegal business practices (threats to manufacturers that sell models with amd). Also...

Zip tieing wires is important. If they touch the fan, they often stop it and you won't know it happened until it's too late sometimes.
