    Moving computer, changing to wireless

All you need is a good WLAN PCI card, they can be had for as little as £20 and will give you about 45MB/s As for walls, unless you live in a bomb-proof bunker with 4 foot thick reinforced concrete walls, I wouldn't worry about it. 2.4GHz radio will penetrate domestic walls like urine through...

Sharing a Network Over a Distance

If you put it in metalic conduit then burry the conduit, it's pretty much lightning proof ;) You may want to think about using an ordinary wireless router in the new building but installing a directional antenna to increas range, they can be had for around £20.

Strange RAID PCI card problem, looking for some ideas.

Yes, I thought perhaps that the order in which they are inserted into the PCI ports would effect the boot order but, no. No change. Cheers

Strange RAID PCI card problem, looking for some ideas.

No, this shouldn't apply. No, I installed Windows on a SATA hard drive (which isn't part of a RAID set) before installing either of the RAID cards and the system is supposed to boot from this (lets say) stand-alone drive. Cheers

Strange RAID PCI card problem, looking for some ideas.

Any help on this issue would me much appreciated as after 3 days of tinkering, I'm all out of ideas. The hard drive on my PC is full and I have a heap of other hard drives (old and new) that I'd rather not install into my PC as I like it to run cool and therefore quiet (can't stand a PC that...

Quick question on manual focus lenses?

i'm not sure how big an inch is but i know its not as much as 1 meter. However, generaly a kit lens like an 18-55 zoom will focus down to about 25cm and at the 55mm end should give quite a close picture.

    Long exposure how to?

some advice... If your camera takes so long to process a long exposure then it will hold you back when trying to take lightning photos. The camera needs to have its shutter open for as long as possible so as not to miss any lightning strikes. Its mostly down to the processor in your DSLR and...

    CRT reccomendation

LCD monitors are for gadget-geeks with slightly enough spare room on their desk for little more than a USB novelty fish tank and a Harry Potter mouse mat. Fortunately for me, my desk is as big as the gap between David Beckham's ears and a CRT monitor also has much better resolution and so many...

    problem saving pictures

thas the prblem i see what you're getting at, its the first thing i tried. but the only thing on that drop down list is the bitmap file format. and where you enter the file name, it has "untitled" as default EVERY time when usually it enters the pictures name in automaticly.
