    SSD for system disk?

If you have only one disk bay (e.g. on a laptop), an SSD is not such a good idea (mostly because of the price of the bigger SSDs). And double booting is a very bad idea because you lose the Win7 and SSD Trim capability. As was suggested earlier, put your other OS on a different HDD (if you have...

    Windows 7 upgrade from Vista

Do a clean install. Upgrades are a mess. For your wireless you just use "Connect To" in the Start menu.

    Installing OS

Simple answer is NO. The key on your laptop is tied to that mobo - no 2 ways about it.

You cannot boot from a USB drive - on any PC, not only Compac. Have to buy a new internal.

    Too many processes running?

10 svchost.exes is normal. I just counted 11 on my system. Plus you have a few rundll.exes that do the same thing - host .dlls.

Linux Mint 8 on Windows 7

The latest vBox version is supposed to have a setting where you can increase the screen size. I have not used vBox in a while, but maybe you can find it.

Creating recovery disc for vista 64 bit not working

Why don't you make an image of your current system instead. That can be done on DVDs although an external disk would be preferable. See this little tutorial I made for the purpose.

    SSD for system disk?

Easy, you put more than 1 disk into the box, make independent installations and switch with the BIOS. At least that's what I do running Vista and Win7 on the same box.

    SSD for system disk?

    1. the SSD read speeds are in the 200MB/sec range. But that is more than 3 times an HDD that spins at 7400RPM. 2. You can get an OCZ Vertex 30GB for $89.99. ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227393&cm_re=ocz_ssd-_-20-227-393-_-Product ) That would be ample for...

    SSD for system disk?

I use an 80GB Intel with Windows7 (as Sata). Works great since November 09. A good option is this one for $90 and free shipping. It is ample. My win7 has never been over 18GBs (but I have my own data in another partition). There is not much special you need to do because the Win7 installation...

    Windows 7 RC

You can use any version - but make a clean install (after saving your stuff from the RC). The best buy for the buck is this (exists also in 64bit but I would prefer 32bit) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116752&cm_re=windows7_oem-_-32-116-752-_-Product

    vista down to xp ?

The very first thing you need to do is to find ALL the XP drivers for your hardware - and that is not obvious. If you are missing only one, it will not work.

    Back Up files.

It works on XP just as well. But what you are trying to do with Copy/Paste is not going to work. You have to do that properly with an imaging program. Macrium is only one example - but the easiest to use and for free. Other options are Norton Ghost, Acronis, Paragon, etc. They all have their...
