i presume that you have the hotfix for this here

press del key to enter bios, go to pc health status, go to chassis open warning set to clear, then save settings and reboot and hopefully that warning should not be there next time. hope this helps :)

you have probably done this already, but i will suggest doing a system restore before the system updates occured, can you boot into safe mode and then do a system restore??

only thing i can suggest is to turn off your computer then turn back on but keep pressing the F8 key until you get to advanced boot options, after that click repair computer and windows should load!!! choose the us keyboard layout and follow the onscreen instructions. if you see a message saying...

one more thing you could try is to go into your bios and change your sata device operation to ATA instead of AHCI. Install the OS then update all your drivers while in Windows XP and change it back when completed. ;)

what you could try is to kill the explorer exe in task manager first, then relaunch it in task manager again by file ... new task/run and type in explorer.exe

what you could try is reseating your hard drive again to see if your laptop picks it up then. so power off the normal way, pull power lead out, remove hard drive, then replace it again, put power lead back in again, power on then see if it finds it then!!! you can then work from there if it fails.
