it was an MSI mobo, don't recall model exactly. thermaltake is brand new. dont have any computers to test the old power supply in. going to try to pull the RAM and see if it will boot.

my roughly 4 year old computer began turning itself off randomly. did this about 5 times, and the 5th time it bit the dust and refuses to turn back on. Thinking the PSU was bad, i replaced it today with a new Thermaltake PSU. still nothing. I get a very brief flash of the case lights...

actually a netgear router.

so while messing with my wireless network, trying to bridge my PC to my new Xbox i somehow created a passkey to my router, which i have no idea what it is. how can i reset my router to be just an open network? right now i am directly to a phone line on another PC, but cannot connect to any...

so screwing around with my wireless router i screwed up bigtime. trying to fix it, windows suggested a system restore. so i tried it, and now all i have is a black screen with a cursor on it. i can move the cursor, but that it. i don't want to just shut down in fear of screwing it up...

nope. turn it on, goes to a screen that looks like the front of the MOBO box, then straight to the error message.

all that goes to the CD drive is a SATA cable, and the power wire. but shouldn't BIOS come up even if the CD drive was not connected?

first build, already issues trying to fire it up. turned it on, and get a message "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" tried to reboot with no luck, tried inserting the CD that came with the MOBO and nothin happened. still...

good to know. i don't plan on upgrading really. i mean, i don't need the latest and greatest. it has to be better than the 5 year old laptop i am on currently with only 512mb ram and a 320 HDD. no need to overbuild if i don't have to.
