    Hosting Services

How is cloud computing versus say a dedicated server with a 1Gbps line connected to a hosting company's backbone. I heard that I was better off using cloud computing as loads are completely balanced, as where on a dedicated server, vps, or even shared hosting, the load is all on the same...

    Deny access to directory

Here is the scenario. I have a domain name, example.com and a subdomain, sub.example.com. Everything is on apache. The sub domain is pointing to a directory within the domain root such as, example.com/Directory/etc. Is there a way i can deny access to that directory from the actual domain...

    SSD 2.5 vs 3.5

Does it make a different whether you use a 2.5 or 3.5 inch ssd drive in a computer. From what i understand, they have no moving parts so the 2.5 inch should be no different in performance as the 3.5 inch. Is this correct? Thanks

    Live Messenger Client

Thanks I will investigate this and let you know. I guess a split second on the router/modem side doesn't necessarily make a difference for streaming videos, browsing the web and my operating system but it must somehow affect the messenger service. But im trying to figure out how this can be...

I would be chatting with someone, and it seems as if messenger disconnects me from the conversation. How did i find that out. Because one day i was using remote desktop to a friends pc and he...

    ARP Response

How can i disable arp responses on both unix and windows machines like you do to disable icmp? I can't find anything helpful on the internet. I am running local servers and don't want any attempt of arp pings either.. They are using static ips so there won't be any chance for ip conflict.

    Linux RAID 1

    Linux RAID 1

I'm setting up a software raid 1 in linux and had a question concerning the bootloader. Normally with raid 1 software you would have to manually create a bootloader in the MBR of each HDD in case one fails. But the thing is then when one fails you would always have to manually reinstall the...

    Copper vs Fiber Optic

Oh so then i guess im fine i don't have to go long distances over 100m or so. Was just curious to see that they have 100Mbit/s fiber cards since you can get that full total bandwidth with copper. It's the same thing but like you mentioned probably used in long distance runs.
