    Is GeForce 6600GT good?

My Wattage is only 250. I'm going to go for a 400W. I've found a Graphics Card, Power Supply, and extra RAM as well. From ebay and Play.com GeForce 8600 (i think) so it would need a good bit of power. So for that i need a Power Supply, but the one i've picked out at £16.99 requires a DDR3 RAM...

    Is GeForce 6600GT good?

That was genuinely a very good guide. Thanks, i'll read it in more detail soon. But i need you to answer another question: In order to install my new Graphics Card, i have to upgrade my Power Supply, but is there anything else i must do before i do this? I mean, you need a better power supply...

    Is GeForce 6600GT good?

I appreciate the link and the advice, but honestly most of that means nothing to me. I simply cannot compare different makes. That's why i said earlier that i like the GeForce series because it is generally just a case of bigger number = better.

    Is GeForce 6600GT good?

Thanks very much, John, and those reviews were helpful too; but again - my technical ability is greatly similar to that of a sponge: How would i go about upgrading the Power Supply? I know literally nothing about power in PCs. Until someone explains it briefly (which would be helpful) my...

    Is GeForce 6600GT good?

My PC is an Acer Aspire M1640 Is it possible to get the power supply from this, or is that up to me?

    Is GeForce 6600GT good?

It's store bought. It's an Acer Aspire, but i can get the model number and anything else you'd like tomorrow. Check back with me tomorrow at about 4pm, thank you for your help. I really appreciate people like you in these forums - helping out the less-knowledgeable.

    Is GeForce 6600GT good?

I apologise for my woefully low knowledge of computers. If i give you Speccy reports for my PC, would you be able to tell me the best Graphics Card it could run without upgrading anything else? I assume that with the 6600GT being older than my PC, that the computer is capable of running...

    Is GeForce 6600GT good?

I made a thread a couple of months ago asking about getting a new Graphics Card but i was basically told it would be better and easier to just buy a new computer. My uncle sent me over a GeForce 6600GT, it installed okay and i don't think there's anything wrong with it, he advised me to fit one...

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

Yeah, the CPU was my worry too, because it sort of defeats the purpose of getting the laptop if the CPU isn't much better than the one i already have. I think it has a 12-month warranty, and Curry's is a good, well-known shop. I just checked, my current CPU is also only 1.60GHz, so this is no...

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

Sorry, i have deleted my last post. I started to realise that PCworld is incredibly over-priced, and for some reason doesn't offer anything other than Vista or 7, which are both quite bad for gaming. I have found this from Curry's...

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

I'm sorry if i sound rude, but you don't really seem to understand; You are all being very helpful, and giving good advice, but for example, on a scale of 1 - 10, if i have a laptop of 1 or 2, i don't need one of 7 or 8, which will be too expensive. A 4 or 5 will do. I made a mistake earlier, i...

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

So let me know if i can actually get a good laptop for £500-600 max. ($800-950) The information i've learnt here should help me a lot. I don't mean to be rude but i don't want to start building my own laptop. For a start, i don't think i physically could. I just want to buy one. I know this has...

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

Sorry, i made a bad assumption there that brilliant 'gameplaying' laptops actually exist. But if they do, do you think with my budget i could get one that would play a game such as Arma 2? The graphics on that are very high and it has very open gameplay, etc. If you have played it, let me know...

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

I have decided actually to just sell my laptop. I don't know how much i should get for it, it's not even as good as my PC. But i should get maybe, £50 for it at least, i think i got it second-hand for 90-something. It's an ex-government machine, i've noticed recently that it's the same one my...

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

Thanks for all this information. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be getting much better! Is there any way that i can increase my power? I really don't want to have to just buy a new PC, but i will do whatever it takes, up to a budget of about £200 now, to get some decent work out of this...

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

If you say right up to quad cores, does that mean i can just do away with mine and get a single core? I'm assuming a dual or quad core is more expensive but doesn't offer that much improvement.

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

Would you be able to shed some light on what the difference is between a Chipset Family, and a Graphics Card?

Is this a good Graphics Card for my needs?

No problem. Here's the motherboard. Honestly i thought if it was Dual Core and 2GHz that meant it was 4GHz in total! I don't know whether that sounds stupid or not! http://s1143.photobucket.com/albums/n639/hosick/?action=view&current=Motherboard.jpg
