Does anyone know how to interconnect computers?

It is possible but not practical unless you have a ton of computers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beowulf_%28computing%29

What makes a pc better than a mac?

I think OSX has the potential to run faster than Windows because it is optimized for a limited hardware range whereas Windows has to support all of the hundreds and thousands of possible hardware combinations that Windows can be installed on. This performance boost may be present but it isn't...

What makes a pc better than a mac?

I'm tossing out performance because it is subjective and I have seen both systems run slow, hang, crash, fail, corrupt data, turn off unexpectedly, etc. I am not arguing security because I have no experience with the inner working of how security works so I have no place in arguing that. I also...

What makes a pc better than a mac?

As far as security is concerned, I have little experience in that area so I can't argue, I'll take your word for it. You are misquoting me, I don't like Windows because I am used to it, I like Windows because it works with me better than Mac OS does. For people that know how to use a computer...

I need to stop my brother from using all the bandwidth/downloads

Look for a setting in the router than says "10.0.0.138" this is apparently the routers local IP (which is kindof an odd local IP). Look in any network settings for "local IP" or something like that, this would change the IP of the router.

What makes a pc better than a mac?

That would ruin the fun, I love watching these threads to see how ignorant PC fanboys are. I dislike OSX (the OS, not the hardware) for legitimate personal preference reasons but these guys are pulling out the same things that have been in use for years. Nothing makes one system better than...

Screen turning black, comp not responding, ...

If your sound is skipping back like that it means the computer has pretty much locked up. You might want to try a different graphics card. The black screen could mean your gfx card has locked up which usually makes you entire computer lock up.

    XP vs. Win. 7

Windows is ages ahead of XP. I would upgrade for the new taskbar alone, it is much more usable than the old taskbar style (which hasn't really changed as much as this since Windows 95). Being able to tile two windows side-by-side with drag and drop is invaluable to me. I used to love XP but...

How to you a tv instead of a monitor

As a TV the difference between 1080p and 720p is only noticeable at higher sizes but when in use as a monitor, the difference is immediately and extremely obvious. You're talking about a difference between 1920x1080 vs 1280x720 (or around 1366x768 because many TVs don't exactly conform to the...

    Not finding hard drive

If you hard drive is connected to the Master end of a cable, and set to the master setting in the jumper, there should be no problem at all. Try unplugging all of your HDDs (and your floppy if you have one) and just put that HDD in and see if it works. Your computer won't boot to Windows but it...

    Not finding hard drive

Hmm.... put the drive back in the external enclosure and see if you can see it in Disk Management. Plug it in and power it up before turning on the computer though.

    Not finding hard drive

Alright, as a diagnostic procedure, try unplugging your CD-ROM drive (which will probably also be IDE/PATA) and plug the Master end into that hard drive, also take some pliers and change your HDD to master. If your HDD is detected then, it means there is a jumper set wrong somewhere. If your 3rd...

    Not finding hard drive

Alright, by that answer I assume you are misunderstood by the Master/Slave setting. Alright look at where your HDD is connected to. This setting depends on where on the cable your HDD is connected. (if only 1 drive is on that cable, then it should always be at the end and set to master. If two...

    Not finding hard drive

Is the drive SATA or IDE? I assume you still have it inside your computer right now. After you plug it in go into your BIOS (usually by pressing the Del or F12 key on startup) and see if you have any indication of it being detected.

    Aynone use Asus Express Gate?

It is like a mini OS that you can boot as soon as you power on your computer (even before getting to the POST page) It comes with a web browser, media player, and a couple other things. This would be great on a laptop if you want to check your email real quick and then shut your computer off but...
