About Lan connecting 2 computers

Hey i dont know if that's possible or not but is there anyway i can connect me and a friend comoputers to play one game together like me at home and him at his house? I dont know how lan works can yall help me i'm tryin to play need for speed ( no matter what version) and counter-strike ( same no matter what version ) or is there any program to do that ....
 
I've always had trouble setting those up, but I think it would make more sense to look into 'direct ip' connections instead of a LAN setup.
 
Well if your houses are right next to each other you could maybe put a cable from his house to your house in a hose (to protect from weather) but I doubt that is realistic.

If you want you can use virtual Lan over the internet. The first thing that comes to mind is Hamachi it worked fine for me but my friends said that it gave them viruses yet I had nothing. Probably all the stuff they download...

If you google around there is other virtual Lan software avaible.

You could just use the internet which would be a lot easier, by entering each others IPs like starwarsman said. (Recommended )

I'm using Hamachi for quite a while, never had any trouble with it so far either. (and it works :) )
 
i think is possible with a wireless access point router , connecting via IP is another good way.
