I have a asus kj52 laptop about a year old and one day the monitored started doing all kinds of weird stuff.

So i hooked it up to my tv with an hdmi cord and it looks fine on the tv.

Im assuming the monitor is messed up but idk how hard it is to replace it and it seems like it would be exspensive to buy one if they even sell them.

Basically can someone tell me what my options are. I would really appreciate it thanks.

It's highly unlikely that the LCD panel has failed.
What's more likely, is a faulty wiring between the lower half and the lid of your laptop.
If you are okay with opening up the computer yourself, power it down, open it, very gently pull out the cable that connects the rest of the laptop to the screen (in most cases this looks like a ribbon, a micro-mini version of the classic IDE PATA desktop cable), clean the contacts, and put it back.
It's not as easy as replacing a RAM module from your laptop, if you don't have prior experience with FRU components, i would suggest to take your computer to a service center.

hmm ok well ill have to do some research. i know u have be careful not to static shock anything. ive read like wearing rubber gloves and shoes and i think there was a special de-static tool?

I suspected a faulty wiring and ive been tapping around trying to see if i could find a short but no luck.

Are these 'ribbon' cables sensitive to cold? I left it in my car in almost freezing weather for a day or two.

How much do you think it should cost to have a pro do this?

Anyway thanks for the advice.
