What is with this game and ATI? Why is AA disabled by default and only allowed on Nvidia.

I've heard it is because unreal engine doesnt support aa natively and ati didnt get their fix in in time this sounds unlikely to me and if true surely it will be fixed by the patch I am downloading, which looking at research it isn't.

So wth, is this nvidia or the developer?

Tbh it sounds like nvidia trying to make things exclusive to their platform, I used a trick using ati tray tools which I can describe it anyone wants it. (not my trick btw)

The trick using ati tray tools works and aa works perfectly I think therefore proving this is most likely nvidia.

Nvidia has now just plumetted in my option to somewhere just above

Actaully he's probably a lot worse.

And I was really thinking of using nvidia again as I am sick of ati, not for any real reason apart from ccc, hence why i got an sli board when using amd, now i may think twice.

Probably the devs fault, unless all your other games have the same issue. Your card isn't bad, better than the 3850 I had, I'm sure, and AA wasn't automatically turned off.

I have the game and haven't noticed that it looks bad or anything i just stuck to the default settings high/ultra and didn't look into it. Xfire only says i've played 1 hour so far (didn't get it too long ago) anyway i will ask my mate who also has an ATI and see if he has Anti Aliasing turned on.

Sorry to bump but I have confirmed that it is due to the unreal 3 engine and its lack of aa due to it using a technique called deferred rendering, this is true accross the board and any UE3 engine game has this problem but there is some sort of favouritism to Nvidia here for two reasons.

The first reason that people said this problem arose is because nvidia sorted out how to enable aa before ati/amd could and amd got there too late meaning that only nvidia cards had support of aa, but considering this game has been hailed as one of the best in recent years, amd would then have got there fix in for the next patch, but apparantly even with the latest patch it still doenst make a difference.

Second reason is that aa works fine if you use ati tray tools and setup a profile to emulate a geforce card, my games exe thinks that i have a gtx 260 and then allows me to turn on aa using an ati card, which looks great, so I'm prettys sure it is just nvidia paying th moolah to make it an exclusive feature to their platform.
BTW with the setup in the sig atm I am running the game on full with x8 aa @ 1366*768 without any problems, usaully 30+ fps plus, normally 40+ fps.

I don't know anything on that issue..But I know one thing my friend has a ATI card and in his machine Arkham Asylam is running really well better that my nvidia.
