Hi folks,

I want to buy a new videocard but i don't know wich one, wich videocard is the best? I really want the best of the best. Price doesn't really matter (my dad pay's :D :D ).

Greetz,
Jurian.

The best PCI-Express x16 video card would be the 7950 GX2
The best AGP 4x/8x video card would be the x850XT
The best PCI video card would be the 5700LE.

Correction: The best AGP 4x/8x video card would be the Gainward 7800GS+ 512MB which has 7900GT's core inside. ;)

the x850XT outperforms the 7800GS significantly.

Unless if Pixel Shader 3 means anything to him, you are pretty much right. I'm pretty sure he'll get the 7950GX2 though. Be aware it's not supported for SLi yet.

We dont know if he has PCI, AGP, or PCI-E, so why are you saying hes getting the 7950 GX2.

If you did not notice, thats for PCI-E, not AGP.

Look at the interface in the picture, that's definitely not PCI-E. On top of that it says AGP about 3 more times on that page. He's right about the 7900GT core, Anandtech or Tom's Hardware reviewed it at one point (or another website) and it read as a 7900. That doesn't mean the the card still is made that way though.

Really? It looks like it has an SLI bridge...is it just the software?

if money's no object, get a SLI motherboard and put two 7900gtx's in there. i don't know how they do the 7950GX2 in SLI (basically 4 cards) but i know two 7900gtx's will outperform a single 7950GX2 in 3dmark06

I was just assuming...I'm sorry Omega, please forgive me.

Dont kill me please

:D:D:D

@ mrbagrat: The drivers don't support SLi (or Quad SLi) yet for the 7950GX2, so it would not work properly.

yea i think you need like two SLI bridges for it or something weird like that... implying the need for a newer motherboard since the SLI bridge comes with the motherboard.

That´s what I was talking about. :) People need to clean their eyes before saying something they are not familiar with :D
http://www.gainward.de/media/files/Images/7876_BA7800GS_PM8370_GS_TV_DD.JPG see it says AGP. And look that socket.. It´s clearly AGP and my friend has that card on AGP.. :)

Does X850XT score 4638 pts in 3DMark06 with AMD 64 3500+ 2.4GHz? I doubt it :D Gainward 7800GS+ 512Mb does and definitely has 7900GT in it while that older Gainward 7800GS without + has only 7800GT's core inside.

There you guys go again. Don't compare a card with pixel shader 2.0 against a card that does on 3dmark06. Is a 6600GT better than my card? NO. But it gets nearly the same score on 3dmark06. On 3dmark05, I cream it. That's my point. Use 3dmark05 for all comparisons like that. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine. :) lol
