BF3 flows well on ultra, Arkham City not so much...

So I got this super nice computer which fit my budget and then some, parts in my signature (if anyone is lazy I could write it out for you).
Playing Battlefield 3 on ultra, I do of course get some slowdown. But no real choppy gameplay of any kind, barely notice any frame drops.
However, playing Batman: Arkham City on high graphics, I get plenty of framedrops and somewhat choppy gameplay.
My settings for AC:
Resolution: 1600x900 (same result if setting higher, and don't really want to go lower)
V-sync on
Anti-aliasing disabled
DX11 features: MVSS and HBA0
DX11 tesselation: Normal
Detail level: High
Dynamic shadows: Yes
Motion blur: Yes
Distortion: Yes
Lens flares: Yes
Light shafts: Yes
Reflections: Yes
Ambient occlusion: No

I'm no pro with what a lot of the settings actually do. I can probably turn a lot of them down or off and not see much of a difference.
What I would like to know though, is why does that game not run as smoothly as BF3? Is BF3 simply using more cores and AC not as much? Or is the graphics engine worse in AC?

I'm not disappointed in the build or whining or anything, I will just turn settings down a bit and it will probably run fine. Would just like to know the actual difference. :)

Tried it, same performance. :p Plus a crash, but I think that's just the game being unstable.
Plus it doesn't really answer my question about why it happens. ;)

Well, I remember it causing a lot of problems with bioshock. It might also be poor coding on the game's part.

i wish it said what the full system they used was but it shouldn't be anything like what you're getting, i'm thinking it's the processor. Have you downloaded the bulldozer updates so the game is distributed to the cores correctly? you may want to also look into overclocking a little.

I have the same problem... its the Phyiscs and its killing your CPU... At least thats what I have been told

Is that updates for the game or for my actual processor? Will have a look at that tomorrow. :) But I got the game on Steam, so if you mean updates for the game, shouldn't they apply automatically?
I have looked into overclocking, and even got a nice guide for it by one member here. :D Only reason I haven't done it yet is that there was a heat wave here and my computer room is not ventilated enough for those. Will have to sort that before doing any overclocking or I will just burn my precious.

Edit: Yes mtb, that is weird. :p I like the bigger open world more in general, but I'm not far enough into the game to pass judgement yet. The world might just be big and boring.

That seemed to help a little. There is still choppyness at times, but not for as long and not as often. Or at least that's what it feels like. :)
