Black mesa just put out there first trailer here This entire mod was made from scratch (minus the source engine), and it looks better than some of the commercial games out there today! It's a complete recreation of HL1 with modern graphics, etc. The trailer looks amazing, and well.....words can't quite describe it, just visit the site.

sweet :) I wonder if you would have to pay for that mod tho, I mean, there's a lot of work in it so it wouldnt supprise me.

This has been in the workings for a LONG time, ever since HL2 came out. However, they have never really said they were even close to being finished.

I've seen some of their previews from several months ago, looks like a great game and I cant wait to get it!

I wonder if it will be free...

Lately I've been looking over Stesm's list of new games to keep tabs on EP2. Suddenly there was HL1:Source and then there was... HL1? as a separate release. That wouldn't be the actual updated version being seen there. HL1 was found at http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=70&cc=US

The HL1:Source version is seen at http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=280&cc=US

One is separate while the other is downloaded when running HL2. You simply open the Steam icon and go to games to see HL1 downloaded and installed there. The graphics with either don't quite fair as well as the trailer seen here however. The ads look better then the game?

Thats half life source, NOT black mesa source. HL1 came first, then people wanted it with the source engine, so valve made HL1 source but people were disappointed because it didnt have new and pretty graphics. So some guys are remaking HL1 with pretty graphics, they call it black mesa source (for copyright reasons).

BTW, for all those asking, yes it will be free. As long as you have CSS and HL2.

Its pays to read!

Black Mesa Source has the same graphics and physics as Half-Life 2, but the story line following Half-Life 1, dont get them mixed up PC EYE.

What your showing is just Half-Life: Source, which is exactly the same but has the source physics engine.

The mystery man was there from the start. You see him at the end in HL1 as well as at the end of HL2. "Your contract is open to the highest bidder." is the remark made where mystery man asks Freeman to choose now and exit the door on the train. This is after Freeman battles the main alien at the end. The new mod simply upgrades the HL1 version in effects and graphics over what you see in the screen there or in the single cd release. The capture is from the opening of HL1 where the mystery man was apparently there from the start.

Umm ya, thats what we have said already, more then twice I believe...

And I wouldnt call him a mystery, he's gman, come on!

PC_eye said that...

Anywho, you should show a picture of what happens if you dont accept :D.

(Gargantua, lots of them.)

EDIT: Speaking of hl1 source and hl1, Is it just me or does hl1 look WAY better then source?

You have to imagine what the other choice would lead to there if Freeman refused. ! :P HL1 sold separately except for one multiplayer and one version originally seen for PS3 or X-Box is the same thing as Source. You can buy it separately on disk rather then buying HL2 to then download it as an addon. The EP1 release was later an addon as well to HL2.

The graphics and redesign of the game maps and characters in the trailer would be a big upgrade there for a new addon to HL2. From the screens here you can see that easy enough. Those were 1990s level graphics still being used.
