Blown Capacitor= Blown Motherboard??

The MB in my firewall server blew a capacitor next to the CPU. Would it be safe to say the MB is junk or would it be worthwhile to replace the capacitor? I don't need hardly any power to run smoothwall and for that reason really don't want to spend much on this one. I just haven't found any dirt cheap PIII boxes lately or I would toss it.

A blown capacitor is pretty terminal, you could replace it but there could be damage done to the IC's, I'd look at replacing the motherboard, replacing the cap wouldn't guarantee a fix.

Unless your very good at soldering, just trash it. And you would have to make very sure you replaced it with the exact cap as blew.

you can search for the same exact capacitor and need to solder it on there correctly and HOPE that it works. but that is a lot of work to fix an old mobo. use it as an excuse to upgrade your system :D
