Buying an AMD X6 FX-6100 in 2017. What to expect?

So my brother just told me that he ordered a computer with this CPU. I don't know the rest of his specs.

He may be on a very tight budget but I just thought that it's a bad idea to buy a 6 year old CPU on an outdated platform (AM3).

I asked him if he did any research because I know that I have been out of the loop for many years myself, so I took my time to get up to speed. I am just afraid that he may be disappointed. He wants to play Civilization VI, I think. Will that run smoothly at least?

Ok, after a chat, he may not want it for gaming after all. He didn't even buy a dedicated graphics card. I assume he bought a very basic AM3 motherboard.

He doesn't really want to disclose any specs though. 4GB of RAM and he wants to use it for multitasking... $200 for the parts. He uses his old Chieftec PSU, since even this piece of garbage of a CPU will consume less than his current one. I am kinda stumped, actually.
