I can't install a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 "ver 1.0" motherboard. I insert the disk and it is recognized but it won't go through the usual install menus. I bought the motherboard before Vista was released but is Vista ready. Does anyone know where I could get a download for this MOBO or a link would even be better for a "Vista Ultimate OS" , I have looked but can't find anything( I know I am hopeless). TIA

Gigabyte's own support site is where to start. At times some driver sets will still see XP stamped on them while still usable in Vista due to Windows seeing a degree of backward compatability. Vista drivers downloaded onto XP on the other hand sees problems fast!

Thats the thing, I looked on Gigabytes site, but I can't find anything that I am after. I will say that I am not very knowledgable which is the reason why I have no idea what I am looking for.:o Which then begs the question if I don't know what I am looking for how could I possible ever find it( Stupid lojic I know)

I was hoping someone here could steer me in the right dirrection.:o

When at the support site you generally see a selector for board over any other type of hardware, the socket type, and then the model number for the board itself. From there you click the go button to bring you to the page to select from a list of options like updates as well as the online user manual. http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2428

All driver sets for the onboard audio. Lan, chipset/memory controllers, and SATA/RAID show support for Vista with some for the 64bit editions as well. The download page is seen at http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=2428

You need to explain alittle better, does it see the cd and not booting to it, or does it boot and the Vista setup comes up but just doesnt see your harddrive?

The updates seen at the download page there are self installer types you can save to a folder and open and run once the downloads complete. That will see all drivers installed right away once you are connected online.

What are you after or looking for? All the drivers include Vista 32 and 64 bit, like said download each driver and save it, then double click it and run the installer. Since you have Vista already installed you dont need the SATA/RAID drivers

Unlike XP the Vista installer readily detects all drives ide or sata while XP was from the old ide typical environment when that was first released. Without any firewall programs besides the one included in Windows running the updates go on easy without fuss.

All you have to do there is read to see which one(s) you need and click on the link for each to them downloaded or run immediately. The best move is simply downloading them foor safe keeping into a folder outside of the ones created by the Windows setup process in the event Windows has to be reinstalled later for some reason. But then there may be newer updates by that time.
