I'm wondering if there's something like an 8 port network switch, which I could buy, instead of having to plug in 8 laptops to each modem.

I'm looking for a more efficient solution.

Probably would help if you explained your usage case a bit. You're being somewhat vague and on the surface it just sounds like you're asking for a standard network switch.
