Computer putting monitors to sleep.. literally.

So i'm having a very strange problem. The tower that i'm using is an "HP Pavilion Media Center m8357c PC". The monitors i'm using are: HP w2408 and a Dell something or other.

Everytime I plug this tower up to one of the monitors, it put's the monitor to sleep! Plain and simple... after I turn on the HP Tower, the HP monitor says "Entering Sleep Mode". I figured it might be the monitor. Hooked up a Dell monitor which I KNOW works as it is my main monitor, and once I turn the tower on the monitor says "Entering power save mode".

Never heard of this problem. Any solutions?
 
The computer had a high end video card in it.

I ended up popping a VGA to DVI connector on the end of the VGA chord, and plugging it up to the DVI port. Works like a charm..
